Lol. I just rescinded my original post. Debating whether to stock up on 147hst or 124 hydrashoks. Both of those in their given weights suck with sub 4 inch barrels.

Ever since covid hit, I feel like im losing more $$ trying to stock up on 124g gdhp. Hst is more expensive than gdhp while hydras are a tad bit cheaper and hi shok are even more cheaper.

I don't know much about any of these types.  I just bought 124 gr. GD and HST.  They shoot well in my P365 but I learned that my pistol was designed around 115 gr. ammo.

But I think it's more of the results you get when shooting a bad guy and less about the pistol performance itself.  I guess the 115 gr. ammo performs better stopping wise because of the shorter barrel.

Otherwise the little guy shoots all kinds of ammo.  I ran about 500 rds of all kinds of ammo through it and no malfunctions so far. ;D

Yeah your right, its the time when you need it, is what matters most. Velocity= expansion. I wanted a 365xl for the longest time but kept getting glocks cause of blue label. Sechawaii finally got 365's (well the last time I went I saw) but watching jhp gel tests/ meat tests.. 124 GDHP and 124g hst seems to work best in the 365.

Your making me want a 365xl even more lol. Just dont wanna stock up on more on 124g while having bout 1k or a bit more in 147g. I guess hydra shoks are an old design and doesnt perform well in sub 4 inch barrels but 5-7 bucks a box cheaper.. In the long run thats kinda alot of money I can spend elsewhere lol.

Just me being cheap.

I'm learning a lot from this video.  The biggest thing is that because it is a micro pistol, there are some things one needs to be aware of that wouldn't be a problem with a full-size handgun.

Train, train, train with the gun you have.  Learn the quirks of it, then strive to be proficient with it.

I wanted a micro pistol so bad, even though I am not proficient with a full size pistol.  I think I should have bought a full size pistol, then buy a micro later on.

But what is done is done.  I'm now researching and deciding what full -size range toy to buy.

Very informative. Full size is all preference sir. Maybe people here can help chime in their experience.

Things you may consider..

Aluminum, steel, or polymer frame?

Preferred barrel length?

Pic rail/ or similar to house a weaponlight ?

Does it need to be "light enough" to iwb carry or owb is fine?

I only own 3 full size pistols. Czp10f, M&P 2.0 PC 5" 9mm, and a XDM .45 4.5 inch. I love them all. But If I had to pack up and go to war, id carry my g19 tho. Even if I could have hi cap mags, it still would be my g19. With the right grip technique, its just downright a great gun. Everyone is in search of a "better than glock" pistol but when you factor in price, reliability, commonality, and availabilty of spare/ upgrade parts... It cant be beat. Its the civic or corolla of the gun world. So many people have it.. And for good reason.

What have you been eyeing out in terms of a full size pistol?

Not sure. ;D  I'm thinking full size P320.  But I really liked the G19 when I handled it at the LGS.  I was struggling with buying that or a G43.  I ended up with the P365.

I’ll have all three of those by the next open shoot. Picking up the P320 X-Full and G43x later this week. I was shooting one of my 19s last open shoot. But that one is a Gucci Glock, not fair comparison  :D

The other guy what was shooting with us was shooting his new P320 X-Carry. I didn’t shoot it, but he seemed to like it. I’d like to shoot it side-by-side with a stock 19 on a future open shoot.

Your Gucci Glock looked very cool......

And I mentioned to your buddy that I was thinking of picking up a P320.  When I asked what kind of gun he had I didn't realize the P320 comes in smaller configurations.

I have a lot to learn, lol!  ;D

What have you found out about grip and a Glock?

Have had one since the first generation 17, now have a compact 30.

I may have missd something.  Dragging my trigger finger on the trigger guard is my only tick with the Glocks I have used.
Just cannot get around the downward angle of the finger and my hand size/shape.

I am still more accurate with my 1911, so always looking for something I missed.

If there are specific firearms you do want to try, just LMK and I am pretty sure I can find someone who has one that you can try.  You're certainly welcome to try any firearm that I own, including my Gucci Glock.  You also mentioned revolvers.  Should setup another revolver day.  We used to have days at the silhouette range, but looks like that is down for centerfire until at least end of October.  :(

Yeah, he is really liking his P309 Carry, I think standard version (non X).  I have the X-Full version and also the weighted Legion frame coming in.  Will see how those go first, but the grip modules aren't that expensive to try different ones.  I hope I don't get bit by the Sig P-series bug.  Seems like there are a quite a few who over the last 3-4 years have.

That you have an open mind to trying is great.  We all can always learn and improve.

Great discussion for a "blank" thread.  Haha.  But seriously, for pistols, I mostly have polymer framed pistols, and shoot mostly with polymer framed pistols.  I have a couple of 1911s (super basic models) and a CZ 75 SP-01.  All different intended purposes though, from competition, to training, to just to try.

To your other questions on things to consider, my answer is yes.   ;D  I pretty much tried them all.  Well, except for the aluminum frame.

Tbh I hated glocks from the beginning. It felt like it had massive recoil.. This was when I took my pistol class back in 2007. There was a g17, 92fs, mk3 22lr, and p226. I fell in love with sig. For roughly the first 10 years of owning guns, i only bought sigs and sp101s and a lcr.

Coch from tactical hive on yoitibe explains grip very well. You start with your trigger finger then wrap your hand around the grip while leaving a mm or so of space between trigger finger and grip. And with glocks, with your support hand, roll your thumb forward so the base is almost straight? I'll find the video.

Another take is to grip the pistol between your thumb and index and ride it high into the beavertail so some skin/ fit is pushed upwards. In the middle/ web of your hand. Then do cochs take on trigger finger placement.

Then I took warrior poet society's take and roll my forearms inwards. Sort of speak. I'll try and find the video on that as well.

Everyone's hand size is different and I'm sure some people use the pad of your finger on a 1911 while the crease/crook of your trigger finger on something small like a p365. Lol

Ah I see I see. I dont think i ever had a steel frame before. Pretty sure all my sigs had aluminum frames except the sp2022 but that was polymer. Lol I do the same.. I got different pistols for diff purposes when its needed.

P.s. im sure ive watched more videos but those are the 2, well 3, that i can remember. Even the coch was using a p320, I just applied it to the glock. And I think support hand is just as important as the trigger finger. That whole 90%/80% grip pressure... I think its kinda wrong. Someone explained in a vid (forgot who) if you put your gun in a bench vise and shot it, it would stay on target cause of equal pressure. If yoir lacking strength on one side then your pistol may or may not " fling" in a diagnol direction. Depends on how strong you are. I'm weak like a rubber chicken lol. But to further to add on grip strength its not strength as if yoir gripping a pipe, its like your praying and only your palms are providing the "bench vise" grip while your flanges are still able to move semi freely. Myles demonstrated that he can shoot accurately with just the web of his hand, thumb and trigger finger. Glocks angle suck so the "rolling" support hand thumb as straight as possible is necessary. Ymmv but it seems to work for me 🤣

Definitely!  Lately, I've been shooting my Glock 19s consistently, but still like to diversify for "diff purposes".  One of my shooting buddies likes his SP2022 and shoots it way better than his other pistols, including a Glock 19.  I don't care for that pistol, but he shoots it really well.
