Slightly off topic but has anyone ever used the Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope method to have it mailed back to them? According to the HPD website:
As an option, applicants may have their processed permits mailed to them. Applicants need to provide a self-addressed pre-paid envelope, certified restricted-delivery return receipt required(available at the U.S. Post Office) at time of application for permit.
I think most people see that as a "12 in one, half dozen in another" proposition.
You either waste time at HPD picking up the permit, or you waste time at the Post Office trying to make sure you and the postal clerk have crossed your T's and dotted your I's on the return envelope.
The only benefit I see is, you might be unavailable on the permit pickup date, but you will be able to go to the Post Office before applying for the permit.
For private-party purchases, I normally meet the seller at HPD on permit pickup day anyway to get everything taken care of at once.
Lastly, everyone wants their new toys ASAP, and waiting another day or two after the two-week wait is just WAY too long!
