Wed
1400 arrive
8 people in line
1500 finish
4 people behind me
Officers were very helpful!  Handing out the forms to fill out while we waited in line.  Asking if anyone is just picking up permits.  They do get a finger print for the permit but it is done at the window so quick.

Looks as if easier to get a NFA check than a HPD permit.

NFA Cleo signature are quick no lines and BS , but the FBI background check is slow.

Got to HPD around 1:30. 3 in line in front of me. Went to apply for my Glock permit and register my rifle. Officer Chu and company were super helpful and super jovial (literally...they were busting out Eminem lyrics while reviewing my paperwork). Out in about 45 minutes with rifle registered and nobody in line behind me.

And on the Glock...that'll be in the "New Change..." thread.

Report for Monday, 28 December 2015

Day:  M     <== M | T | W | TH | F
Time in:  1300
Time out:  1445
People in line upon Arrival;: 8 in front, 6 behind
People in line upon Departure:  15+
Permit Applications Submitted:  1 long gun, 1 pistol
Permits Picked Up: 0
Local Firearms Registered: 0
Out of State Firearms Registered: 0

Arrived when line wasn't too bad, but it was ridiculous by the time I left; all the way to the double doors. Took about an hour 45 min to get to the window, then another 45 min at the window (will discuss this in a separate post). Officers Del Prado and Sing were very helpful and didn't harass me like other officers do when I come in. If the higher ups had Del Prado's attitude and demeanor, I think many of the problems we are experiencing would not be so intense.

If my permit pickup date is 1/1-1/7, does that mean the earliest I can pick up the permit is 1/4 (Monday)?

That would be an affirmative there buddy!! Kind of sucks, but it's always worth the wait.

Anyone tried to get a permit to register a hand gun that was purchased and has their primary physician at Straub lately. News went out last week that Kaiser is on board.

Yes, I applied this past Wednesday and submitted the Straub release form that I've been filling out the last couple of years when applying for permits to acquire. The only difference was a thumb print on the application and the officer said "all good...see you in two weeks".

Thanks, Dogman. I was hoping, I wouldn't have to get another physician to do the form. Aloha and Mahalo for the info.

Has anyone else using Straub as their primary, applied for a permit for a hand gun. Just trying to be sure that there's no recourse if I purchase a handgun and run into issues with HPD and Straub. Is the finger printing the only change to the regular applications that are filled out?

If you really want to make sure, just call the firearms division of HPD and verify.

Line was out the door this morning (01/05/16)8am...Took only 30mins to register....they had 2 officers 2 clerks helping people in line with registering, distributing permits, and handing out forms for permits. New system seems more efficient...Good job HPD :shaka:
