Does anyone know what the maximum vehicle height is for the parking at HPDs lower parking garage is?  Wondering if my 2006 Chevy Trailblazer can fit.  TIA.

You will fit

6:30 a.m. 6 people in front of me

7:45 a.m. approx. 20 people in back of me.

In at 7:45 a.m.; out at 8:13 a.m.

An officer was pulling people out of line who where there to register firearms. Looks like HPD has changed its registration procedures and is requiring electronic signatures on the permit. The permit is then printed out on an 8.5 X 11" paper.

I heard there's a smart phone app tied to the electronic parking meters for the City. It supposedly allows you to monitor the amount of time left on your meter and add more $. If this is true, it would save some of you from paying an additional "registration fee" of $35. Haven't been able to confirm the existence of this app as of this writing. I heard that info regarding this app may exist in the fireams registration section at HPD.  It would help if someone could confirm this.

Its been like this since January/February, They had to implement a digital system so it can be tied to rapback

I registered a couple of guns in early January when they first got those pads.  They were still ironing out the kinks at the time and exacerbating an already long wait.  Simple stuff like getting the signature box lined up in the window that allowed you to sign on that pad.  I will say that in the time between early January and late June, they seemed to have the process much better streamlined.  They even added a workstation on the DH side of the records counter, where they do the finger printing.  They used that station for the signature and printing of the registration papers.  Helped to get people out of the main waiting room.

when the officer came out to help the line shorten really quick since had alot of permit pick ups only

not sure if that system is still active. i remember hearing about them in downtown and chinatown area but the program failed because people complained vehicles would be parked at the meters all day and owners would feed the meter via Apps. stores in the area didnt like cause customers could never find parking since workers in the area would just park in that stall all day long. kinda defeating the purpose of 2 hour limit parking.

another option is to park at blaisdell i believe its 8 dollars in/out a day its good if you pick up your permit and return the same day to register. saves time looking for parking and peace of mind not worrying about the meter

I just registered my lower last week. Here in Hilo, registration was still on paper.
We'll see how it is this week however. I will be registering my 629 on Friday.

Took about 45 minutes to get  my permit this morning. Line was out the door + ~8 when I got there. Finally got in the door, and a clerk was collecting IDs from people who were just picking up. Line was about 10 deep outside the door when I left. Good luck to all of you.

Just as a followup to my previous post above...
Registered my handgun this morning. Wow, for Hilo, that was a long line. About 5 or 6 people in front of me. Other than the wait, everything else was normal. No Rapback stuff. I inquired about it and the lady (I don't know her name, but she is always super nice and pleasant to work with) said they haven't really been told about anything regarding Rapback. They know as much as we do (if not less). Since I was last in line, we chatted for about 10 minutes about Rapback stuff and this awful Dallas shooting and since we both have family in law enforcement, it's scary. She also said the past couple days have been crazy busy with the amount of new apps.  Long line with about 20-something apps yesterday.

Peace! :shaka:

12:30, 12 people out the double door.  I can't see how many people inside the room because of the tears in my eyes... :(

I let my long permit expire because of this craziness.  Next purchase is going to be a hand gun anyhow so I can do long gun same time.  Hope this eases up.

Yes, it's recommended.  No sense in standing in line twice.
