Not if it was brought in prior to 94'..

I was being sarcastic by the way.
And it still makes no sense for registration, all it lets them know is who has what.
I figured there was some sarcasm in that comment.  :shaka:

In Hilo, the forms are outside the door, free for the taking.  And they even have folders with pens attached, so you can get the forms done before you get to the desk.

Got in line at 10:06, finished at 1:04. When I left the line was about 10 people longer than when I arrived.  The Kuhio and Good Friday Holidays didn't help.

Now that's progressive thinking and it only costs some folders and pens.

They use a computer on the big island. All the forms on Oahu are carbon copy.

First time going tomorrow....Where is the parking at the police station. The back didnt have any public parking really and I didnt know if there was public parking in the garage structure? My wife was going to get in line for me around 0530 because ill be at work until 0730. She should be alright because i wont get there till about 0800 right? I would hate for her to get up there before I get there and people be mean to her or something like that.

People will not be mean to her.  They are very nice.  In fact, they are us!  I've seen women many times (although clearly outnumbered by men!).  Tell her to stay in line until just before she gets to the little room.  If you don't arrrive before she gets there, she can just let people pass her until you do.

I bought a gun from 2ahawaii classifieds and arranged to perform the transaction in line at HPD while waiting to register another firearm.  We made arrangements to meet there and  I waited until i got inside and then just let people people pass until he arrived.  Bought the gun and just resumed moving in line.   Registered both when I made it to the front. Model of efficiency.

They are never good about it. I waited 2 hours in line last week for a permit. Since mid February I've been to HPD 5 times and not once did they come out and ask. Its a crap shoot.

Not while I was there. The only time they asked for permits pickups
Was when they were going to lock the doors and turn everyone outside away.
Even had someone come straight in ask if they were and they said "Not today".

just curious what happens if you are late in registering? if everything is manual carbon copy how does HPD know if you registered or not? do they call you? or do they wait until you try and register to confiscate weapon?

One time I was there and the woman that works there told me a woman tried to register a handgun that was 6 months or so from purchase.  She told me they confiscated it and made her go through the permit to acquire it again.  She said something like "we try to be reasonable, but that was too long".
