Range anxiety,  lack of charge stations, taking too long to charge, more expensive insurance, and a few others.

That's the nice thing about the Hybrid Prius.  Plenty of power, runs on gas and battery, gets over 40MPG when splitting travel about half highway + half in town (stop-n-go).

There are some gas only cars that get close to the same MPG -- like the Corolla.  iI gas prices get stupid-high again and stay there, obviously the price of the Corolla might exceed the total cost of owning a Hybrid.

I was unaware insurance for a Hybrid/EV is more expensive than for gas engine cars.

I own a diesel VW that gets 50 MPG
on Hawaii roads.
and I can drive the entire island on one tank of fuel
and then fill it back up in under three minutes.

EV's in their current state are not worth it if you drive interstate.
Sometimes you gotta know when to save your bullets.

Insider on YT had a clip on Lithium batteries and what it does to the environment.

Chile/Bolivia is the main harvester or lithium as they have the biggest deposit. It isn't just dug like how other minerals are,. Instead salt type water is pumped out from underground and it's left to dry on the surface. Like how salt is. This causes pools of water, typically yellow in color. The more yellow, the higher the lithium concentrate is.

Also needed is fresh water, so the fresh water supply in the area is reduced. Villages who already have droughts complain about this to their government.

This clip didn't even get into the processing after the salt water evaporates.

1 lithium battery in the same comparable size is equal to 4 regular batteries. Which makes it good for EV's.

In Chile, the US and Chile run the show. But in Bolivia, it's China and Russia.  The reason why it's in both countries is because the area crosses the border.

In summary we are lied about EVs being "environmentally friendly" No creature is friendly to the environment per our human definition. Cows fart. Pigs dig up the landscape in search for food. Locusts ravage crops.
All this EV campaigns are just a side deal cottage industry for the political connected. And poor Greta, she lost her mind over nothing.

So i got my EV based soley on the free charging at work. Our office is moving and now it cost $. Idk the cost, but the new offoce is in downtown. Which means parking cost $8 for just 45 mins in the building.

This is an unforseen situation, but glad i leased becuase in 1 year, i will go back to ICE. I plan on bicycling to work due to the shitty downtown parking cost.

I leased to test the waters, and the monthly payment was the same as buying at the time.

Take the rail!

Oh, it probably doesn't go near where you live and work, huh?

HONOLULU (KITV4) --  It's a problem that's really piling up.. literally.  At salvage yards across the islands, collections of dead batteries from electric vehicles are growing because there's nowhere else to send them.

That is an excellent point. Can you imagine if the state has their wish come true and ALL of the vehicles are
EV's? I am sure that we will all pay dearly for the disposal of the batteries in one way or another. As I and
others have stated these batteries cannot be buried in a land fill, at least not one in the US.

Can you imagine all of the batteries from state and city vehicles adding to this mess? Of course tax payer
money will be used to properly dispose of those batteries. We can also expect the batteries from the HUUUGE
battery farm in Kapolei will also require periodic proper disposal.

I can see the state trying to build a recycling program in Hawaii for these batteries but the start up costs
will be insane. Environmentalists and citizens will cry NIMBY NIMBY and the politicians will F it up.

If only there were a few people who pointed this out well in advance of it becoming a real problem.

I guess nobody can predict the future.
