The Duncan v Bunta California mag case is supposed to wrap up in December. Will that have any impact for the Hawaii case?

Eventually it will.  It'll likely take a while, maybe 1 to 5 years?  It has to go through the 9th CCA of appeals which takes a long time.

Even if SCOTUS were to rule against the limit Hawaii will just ignore it.
