In re therapists:
I still have not seen any clear logistical plan/policy to implement/integrate therapists in modern police work, only vague descriptions like fire 20% of officers and replace them with therapists as to not incur additional costs. No one has even suggested how to audit such a program for its effectiveness, only that the 'obvious' end result is a reduction of police use of deadly force. Police slayings, both justified and unjustified, are nearly insignificant in terms of all police-citizen encounters occurring each year. If media outlets were to title articles on police shootings like automotive deaths, it would read something like "Vehicular deaths as the result of elderly Asian-American women drivers in large SUVs are increasing at an alarming rate--and the Department of Transportation Director (R)Tonald Jiden is doing nothing about it."

hmmmm, that's a great idea.
Let's take it a step further.
Take away ALL guns from cops.

Think of the benefits!
1-No more suicide by cop
2-No more accidental discharges
3-No more pesky lawsuits when a cop shoots an unarmed perp
4-No need to buy guns OR expensive ammunition!!!...sell the Glocks and ammo and use the funds to hire therapists
5-No need to train them with guns.
6-No need to waste time and money with maintenance and qualifications.
7-No need for a shooting range at the Waipahu training academy
8-No more problem with lead contamination at the training academy
