HIFICO Donations for 10rd pistol mag lawsuit
« on: April 05, 2023, 09:09:39 AM »
A wrench got thrown into this lawsuit.  This is the Abbot vs. Lopez (formerly Shikada, Connors Hawaii Attorney Generals) lawsuit about 10rd pistol magazine capacity.  This lawsuit was filed before the Bruen ruling.  Now since HI has to prove historical tradition, they are getting help from CA historians.  This was an unforeseen expense.  So now HIFICO's attorneys have to hire their own historian to rebut what HI is trying to use to justify the mag ban as history and tradition.

With this being said, the bill is already in the thousands.

Use the link below to donate as much as you're willing to.  Even if you don't have a handgun, this lawsuit would represent another anti 2nd amendment law being struck down if we win it.  HI also tries to apply this to rifle magazines every few years.  So a win for this would mean they cannot apply it to rifles in the future.

Anything helps, even if you can only afford to donate $5; but more is better.

Share with all gun owners you know.

Forgot to add, the creator of the Give Send Go is 1 of the plaintiffs on the lawsuit and former HIFICO director Jon Abbot.

So you can donate with confidence.

Donation sent.  I want you guys to beat the state so badly that they beg you to be their friend.  Remind them that just because we live here doesn't mean we're their property.

Is this the case where the state hires Everytown to be the "Attorney General" for Hawaii?
I'm getting confused.

FYI, this fundraiser is not officially being done by HIFICO and HIFICO does not control the fundraiser.  It was started by a former HIFICO director who has a lawsuit on the Hawaii magazine ban Abbott v Shikada (separate from the NAGR lawsuit) with other hifico members under attorney Alan Beck.

Is there a way of donating an item to be auctioned or sold? I have a pair of 1911 grips I was thinking about trying to auction for hifico but I don't have a lot of followers on instagram and I haven't done an auction before

How much do you believe a single pair of 1911 grips will be bid up to in an auction?

Best idea IMO is to place an ad on here under Classifieds: Accessories and Other Tools.  Include in the ad your desired price (more than the item would normally sell for on here).  Make sure to include OBO.

Explain in the ad what the proceeds will go toward.

Don't ask for bids (auctions are against the terms).  Just set a reasonably high price and take the best offer.  If you set a time limit of a week, that gives you the option of holding the grips that long so you don't miss out on a higher offer.

Just a suggestion.  There have been others here who sold items that went toward a donation.

HIFICO hasn't had an auction ever.  The best option would be to sell the grips and donate the proceeds via the GSG. The good thing about GSG is that you don't have to put a name. Due to the work people do, they may want to stay under the radar.

I have sold stuff here before and donated the proceeds to worthy charity organizations.
Maybe it's time to do that again.
I got a lot of stuff.
