Is there such a thing as an affordable EV in the market today? Next year, Honda should bring out its offering. Chevy has the Bolt, and I believe GM will allow credits earned by using GM-branded charge cards can be applied to this car, as well as Corvettes.

For those like CMO, what are some of the surprise costs of owning an EV? This article cites faster tire wear, and higher collision insurance costs.

"Affordable" is an ambiguous term.  Affordable based on what standard?  Compared to what?  Based on one's income and credit rating?

No matter what you find affordable I''m sure there are many others who can't afford it.

my ebike less than $2k. I'm on a 3rd chain, second set of tires and on my way to a 3rd battery pack
a Talaria Sting is about $3k and goes up to 45mph with an 80 mile range.

Hawaii has the most expensive EV in the country.

Loving the JDM mini truck so far. Haven't done the mileage yet but supposed to be around 35mpg. I see more and more of them being used as work trucks in town with custom racks loaded up with all kinds of goodies.

Unless you're stacking massive plywood most times a giant truck is way too much for the average materials run.

As far as maintenance I hear there's a couple guys that work on them locally but parts are expensive if you can't find substitutes.

There are also haters out there who will drive aggressively around you, but it seems to be less and less of a problem as they become more common.
