I know this thread is old, but make sure you tell 'them' that more than 50% of the "gun violence" statistics are suicides, yet if you kill yourself by hanging or jumping, it's not an issue of "Rope Registration" or "Building Codes", but rather a "mental health" issue instead.

During testimonies for bills, this was brought up more than a few times. Anti 2a lawmakers and testifiers who support the bills don't care about facts.  They even had the ET rep Chris Marvin "the veteran" think that 1 can open carry a rifle because he used Kyle Rittenhouse as an example why stand your ground is bad (stand your ground bill).  Then when someone informed him that OC is illegal, he was sort of loss and didn't know where to go because his main talking point was gone/wrong and he doesn't know HI's gun laws well enough.

https://www.kitv.com/news/local/suspect-shot-killed-by-hpd-following-incident-in-waianae/article_a1dc5c04-bbca-11ee-bc94-3f89e24b5b60.html

Soooo funny!  Man lunges at police and they shoot him and they are commended because they are protecting the public.  By the way the police said the taser "didn't work" and that AT LEAST one officer fired at the suspect.  WTF?  "At least" means more than one.  So what was it?  Two?  Three?  Ten?  HPD no can rememba?  Figures........ ::) ::) ::)

If the man had lunged at a civilian, chances are the civilian will be severely injured or killed.  What do we call them?  I guess mindless, defenseless sheeple with no way to defend themselves? Worthless victims?  Unfortunate statistic?  Civilians denied their right to defend themselves due to pukes in the republik of hawaii?

I like the last one best.  Actually all of them are accurate.

We are seeing again , if lawmakers or people change words, they can enact laws due to scary sounding words.

Hence you never hear about knife violence, fist violence, car violence, golf club violence, etc...But the tool used of gun violence.

Now we are seeing that the term "assault rifle" is being defined in our current legislature, which means all factory semi auto rifles.

Now we are seeing that the term "assault rifle" is being defined in our current legislature, which means all factory semi auto rifles.

The term "assault weapon" was first used in 1989 in a piece of CA legislation.

Quote
The Roberti–Roos Assault Weapons Control Act of 1989 is a California law
that bans the ownership and transfer of over 50 specific brands and models
of firearms, which were classified as assault weapons. Most were rifles, but
some were pistols and shotguns. The law was amended in 1999 to classify
assault weapons by features of the firearm.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roberti%E2%80%93Roos_Assault_Weapons_Control_Act_of_1989

Before that, "assault rifle" was an industry term for certain machine guns -- fully automatic and select fire models that were able to be carried during offensive military operations.

With the way the media and gun groups have misused the term assault weapons, assault rifle has now become commonly confused and used in its place -- mostly because the an assault weapon has no standard definition, and people are just ignorant about the issue.

Now, when you look up the term "assault rifle," you see 3 definitions:

Quote
assault rifle
noun

1. Any of various automatic or semiautomatic rifles designed for individual use in combat.

2. A military style automatic rifle or carbine that fires a shortened rifle caliber round or lower
power smaller calibre round larger than pistol ammunition from a high capacity magazine.

3. Any assault weapon.

Semantics?  Or just tha natural evolution of language based on changing usage in society?

e.g. Xerox used to be a company name -- the brand of the first and most popular imaging machines for making paper copies.  Usage turned the name into a generic term for all imaging copiers regardless of brand.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Firearms are tools.  If someone attacks another with a tool, it becomes an assault weapon.

That's why the gun control freaks won't stop at scary black guns.  To them every gun is an assault weapon.

They are looking towards the day when all guns are gone from the hands of law abiding citizens.  After all, they are the only ones who will obey these stupid laws.

Then only military, LE, and criminals will have guns.  Law abiding citizens, along with the gun control freaks will become fodder, caught between the crossfire of these gun-toting entities.  We will be at the mercy of robbery, rape, sodomy, mass murder, and corruption from the very people that were supposed to protect us.

At some point, people wouldn't know the difference between criminals, LE, or the government that represents them.

This is coming, no doubt, if we let them.

I like most your comments,  but on some things your ideas lag reality a bit
We are already there in the single party run state of Hawaii.
