Alan Beck to the rescue again.

Looks like soon we will be able to have butterfly knives in Hawaii.  Just saw hfc post.   Next up auto knives, gravity knives.  .  Not sure why they are suing one by one.

I already got all of them. Butterfly, switchblade, gravity, OTF and others. Why? Two reasons.

1. I like to collect knives.

It's a lot easier to sue on fewer things and focus on quality.  We also don't have large law firms with staff that can research and review things.

I don't see anything in the short term.  Have to see how the TROs and appeals go.  It could require a lot of additional work from the attorneys.

My lawsuit, Yukutake v Lopez on registration should be decided soon from the 9th cir

Darn, can't copy and paste the current 2 cases used to win the batton and butterfly knife to other types?  State pays attorneys when they lose.   Seams like easy money.

A lot of these so called illegal knives can be found at the swap meet, although most likely cheaply made ones.

I got mine either online or trading with another collector.  My.most expensive knive is about $2200, more than my most expensive gun.

First we have to see if the state will appeal it up, which there is a possibility as this is the first 2a case out of the 9th cir and would weigh on all of the 9th cir firearms lawsuits.  Or they may not, knowing the knife laws don't actually do anything and it's effect on firearms cases is minor.  The Yukutake v Lopez opinion should weigh heavily on other firearms lawsuits depending on how it's written.

Good lawsuits are difficult to file.  Most general practice attorneys will file stuff with minimal effort which have a lower chance of winning and can set bad precedent.  If you look through the lawsuit filing, you can see how much work it takes for a good lawsuit.  Hundreds of hours.  We also had to hire a historian and expert witness which costs thousands of dollars.  The lawsuit filing has to be perfect as just a few wrong words can throw it out.

Remind me what the question at issue is in Yukutake v. Lopez?  Thanks!
