What coating do you use for preserving deer antlers?

Got a nice buck on a recent hunting trip and brought the rack back home. Just wondering what I should coat the antlers with to help preserve it. It has some nice deep red/brown stuff on it and already rubbing some off when I was cleaning the meat and tissue off the cap.

So what do you guys like to use? shellac? some kinda varnish? leave it bare?

First of all congrats on your buck and a successful hunt. I like to leave mine natural if it's hard Antler. If it's kept out of the weather it'll be fine. I prefer the natural look,  I've seen some guys coat theirs to make it glossy which is their preference. But idk what they used

You can use horn wax from a taxidermy supply to help them last.   Which is probably the same as a wood furniture wax, but they charge more for the taxidermy horn wax

Interesting, I tried searching online but couldnt find anything like that. I read some stuff where guys say they use wd-40 or a product called liquid gold, which seems to be a wood floor varnish. also read some stuff where people say they wash it first. honestly im not sure what to do lol.

pic attached. I guess ill try and keep it bare. maybe ill try bring a smaller one home next time to experiment on.
