Permit line @ HPD
« on: November 15, 2023, 03:58:01 PM »
Has anybody been thru the PTA side at HPD? Passed by here and there during the week and it looks like you’ll be better bringing a folding chair to hang out lol.
Anyone went thru it recently? Do they turn you down when your in line still in their closing hour?

I went in the end of October I was next in line right before closing. Thought they wasn't going to take me cause they started talking story then about 10 min left they took me in and the 3 people behind me.

Was there today about 3pm to register the PTA line was pretty long and growing before i left.

Went Monday 8:30A, 12th in line, only processed 2 people in an hour, only one clerk working, bailed, ten more people behind me when I left.

Went back Tuesday 30 mins before doors opened 7th in line, was in and gone within an hour, less than 10 mins inside with everything printed online and filled out. 2 clerks working.

Lots of 1st timers getting printed is the part of the hold up.

A lot of first-timers in general. First-timers almost never have all the forms filled out.

A lot of panic-buying.

I watched a very liberal looking pear shaped man come out after getting printed doing a fist pump on his way out the door. Nice to see a Democrat excitedly embracing his 2A rights.

Maybe the fumes of smokeless powder can be a gateway drug.

They are in no rush to make us wait
They feel no need to help us
If they moved any slower, they'd be moving backwards

I think the HPD Firearms division is gonna be slammed for a long time as lots of people come in to register and apply for firearms ownership.

There will be people who are first time buyers and are suffering from anxiety from current world events.

And there are people who are acquiring firearms because the prices are good right now plus who knows what craziness 2024 will bring.

Glad to see more people acquiring firearms.  Now, let's hope we don't have a problem acquiring ammunition for our firearms.

A very interesting subject for another thread.  Not sure about all of you but my conspiracy theory button just got pushed.

HPD actually stated they don't got the manpower to do this when the legislature tried to pass a bill to require a permit to buy ammo.  Also they stated this when they wanted to require registration of Tasers a few years ago.

Glad to hear this.  But I actually was getting at something entirely different.  There seems there will be very little or no ammo to even buy.

Internet chatter is suggesting government intervention due to the 2 conflicts will mandate Lake City to only concentrate on military production and the fear mongers out there are speculating that since our anti-2a government is getting a hard time confiscating and banning firearms they will go to the next thing:  Ammunition.

Sorry.  I don't want to hi-jack the thread any more than I did so I'll stop on this subject.  If anyone thinks this makes an interesting subject then it should be in it's own thread.

It seems hit or miss, so bring a chair and make sure your smart phone is charged enough.

So does anyone have experience waiting in line after hours? How late after closing holds the record? Lol

They took me in about 10 mins before closing. And a min or 2 after they took the remainder of the line after me about 3 people. My paperwork was quick cause of ccw but the last 3 people were in there after 4

is there a PTA surge because new rules go into effect Jan 1, 2024.  new rules with a whole bunch of unknowns, not to mention everybody's affidavit and old fogies' Hunters' Ed expiring.

Could be.  Wouldn't be surprised.

It also could be it's the Holiday season and people want to buy themselves a firearm.

And the anxiety of what may come with all these new rules in 2024 just made it easier for them to make that decision.
