(Gray News) – A woman is being celebrated by the U.S. military for
being the first active-duty female Army sniper.

I thought gender was irrelevant in 2023.

Men are getting pregnant and trans-women are dominating women's sports.

i'm surprised the first "woman sniper" isn't a biological male in a wig and eye shadow.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

I have not looked into this, but I wonder if this went the same as the first Ranger tab graduates.

I worked with a woman, who's husband was in the Ranger class that the 2 women who were the first to graduate in was.  Hey said that the cadre didn't focus on them too much, compared to others. For those who don't know, if you stand out, you get chewed out more. Bascially, you don't want to draw attention to yourself and by being female, this is impossible.  But the class did notice that they weren't "smoked" as much as the other students.  This is a pretty big factor during the assessment.

Then there's rumors of standards across the board being lowered. Like the weight of the ruck was reduced compared to prior years.  This could be coincidental, but I doubt it.

Are there women who can do the exact same standards as the men...yes. My friend is 1 of them.  She always does PT at the mens standard in her unit and maxes it out.  She also is still feminine and not butch.  Granted RASP is totally different from maxing out mens PT, but you get what I'm trying to convey as there is no way to prove she can graduate from Ranger school.

I like the interview she gave and how she mentioned her nickname "sniper" beacuse she can spot things fast.  Many people think that snipers only are good at shooting. But don't know that observation is what they do majority of the time (not shooting).

I never looked deeply into Army snipers, but are there different units?  Like how a Ranger tab is different from having a Ranger Scroll (Regiment).  So those first women who graduated Ranger school, got their Ranger Tab and aren't part of the regiment at that time.

Also what's interesting is that the NG woman from Montana has her name classified.

Rangers lead the way.

As with all elite badges, there's a whole lot of responsibility and expectations that come with the honor of putting that badge on your shoulder.

It's not just another pretty little thing like a Christmas ornament.

Good for her on her earning Sniper status. :thumbsup:
