Have anyone ever saw those YouTube videos of supposedly Keanu Reeves entering high class restaurants with regular clothes to have a meal and the staff treats him terribly not knowing that he is actually the owner of the establishment?
I say supposedly because I'm not sure how true these videos are. There's also some of Barron Trump and other celebrities being treated mean and terribly and the workers end up being chastised, humiliated, and humbled after being forgiven by these benevolent celebrities after it was discovered who they were.
I guess if I was the richest person in the world I would use my resources to try to end hate, prejudice, racism, and other ugly things happening way too often nowadays.
This area is broad and touches every aspect of society and the ills are seemingly endless but what the hey, I have the money so I'll just start somewhere and take baby steps or should I say start everywhere and take baby steps and meet in the middle......
That's a noble desire, but you're essentially wanting to reprogram the human condition. We are all the products of our environments, experiences and decisions. Trying to rewrite that in the brains of people beyond adolescence is a tough proposition.
While you may be "wired" to give unto others, you can't force others to feel the same way. Attitudes regarding hate and discrimination requires too much change compared to learning to accept others from kindergarten age.
On the flip side, there are people who use things like hate, racism, prejudice and other ugly things to incite division and gain power for themselves. I don't see any way of stopping those people short of creating a team of assassins to weed them out like cancers.
There's the ideal world, and then there's reality. There's also the age old question of how can one be for independence, freedom and self-determination while at the same time dictating to everyone what constitutes right and wrong (kind of like the Star Trek Prime Directive of prohibiting interference in the cultures of other civilizations).
The best solution throughout history has been to set a successful example. Others will want to emulate you if they also value what you have done. But, it's the ones who want nothing but wealth and power you'll never be able to teach.
The biggest obstacle to world peace is a lack of resources in some areas and an overabundance in other places. Food, water, medicine, housing, and other basic needs must be met before you can count on any sort of peace that lasts. Maybe target your wealth toward those objectives first and then look at others.
I think affordable, sustainable, safe energy can fix most of what's broken globally. If we remove fossil fuels from the game and replace it with something much cleaner and cheaper, the whole Middle East problem starts to resolve itself. Transportation, agriculture, survival in harsh climates, hospitals, etc. will all be made more efficient without the cost or problems caused by today's energy infrastructure.
Hydroelectric has always been a potential solution, but it's not applicable to all locations. Solar is helping, but it's not yet matured to be a viable solution.
I remember seeing in the movie
Soylent Green how they had to pedal a stationary bike to recharge their batteries that kept the lights on. Since necessity is the mother of invention, maybe we need to hit rock bottom before we find that elusive energy solution that gives everyone the same chance to support themselves.
