The NV state system has been down for 19 days now. NV gun sales do their checks through NICS, but it's done by the state.  Since the state is offline, no NICS checks can be done.

They do not have a permit to acquire or registration like HI does, but do NICS by the state.  They passed a law a few years ago that all gun transfers need to be done by a FFL.  Which means the NICS check.  The exception is if transferred to immediate family.  So if this had happened 5 years ago, then it wouldn't affect private gun sales at least.  IDK when the state NICS check was adopted for FFL sales.

There is a clause in their law if after 3 days of no reply, you can sell the gun.  But if the check comes back negative, then it's on the FFL to get the gun back.  Which is why no FFL's are taking the risk right now and selling.

You also cannot renew your CCW, drivers license, etc...

You left out the most important point -- the cause of the system outage.

The state computers have been infected with ransom-ware.  They have been trying to recover from it, but so far it's not done.

This tells me (1) they refuse to pay the ransom, and (2) their backup and recovery plan for critical servers is severely lacking.

All it takes is one employee clicking a link or opening and email attachment while using the system.

There needs to be some IT people replaced with someone who didn't get the job through DEI.

Tim Lee the food vlogger was in or still is in Vegas and he was at the Excaliber Food Court or Hall or whatever they call those places nowadays.

He was complaining about being charged $40 for a FRICKEN FAT BURGER.

Fat Burger.  A Burger Chain restaurant known for the usual mediocre run-of-the-mill burger.

With that being said Vegas Food Vloggers are finding pretty good food deals off the Strip but you need a car to explore the outer reaches of the valley.

Places like Ellis Island and the Red Rock Casino have a $5.99 Burger and Fries special available 24/7.

$40 for a Fat Burger on the Strip?  That's f*ckn criminal.

Oyo laid off most of their table dealers.  New table hours, tables are closed from 3am-11am. Hooters also closed down about a month ago too.

This casino was known for their $1 blackjack.  But it's a shithole. Most of the time the elevators aren't working and they don't tell their guest. So you're on the 4th floor waiting for 10 minutes and finally decide to take the stairs.  Which leads you to the back of the hotel.

There are many places that serve the combo for much less. Grand Lux has a combo that doesn't cost $40 (Palazzo/Venetians 24/7 type cafe).  Only a moron would spend $40 for their cheap fastfood type burger.

Not a Vegas comment, but burgers in general.

There are niche burger places that command a higher price based on quality, variety and, yes, value.  Not everyone wants a Big Mac every time they eat out.

I loved going to Fuddruckers.  They offered various sizes of burger using fresh meat (butchered and ground onsite).  You get your order in line that comes with the plain burger on a bun (cooked to order) and whatever sides you ordered.  You carry the plate to a large "fixin's bar" and build your burger exactly how you like with all the cheese, veggies, condiments and extras (jalepenos ...).  If you want, you can go back and add more toppings to the same burger or make two halves with different toppings to share.  The 1/2 lb burger alone was about $10, then add for fries, onion rings, etc. and your drink -- including bottled beer.  The burger meal can easily top $20 per person.

I was in heaven when Fuddruckers added the Taco Salad to the menu!  You got a salad bowl made of fried tortilla (similar to Taco Bell before they changed) filled halfway to the top with seasoned beef (using their fresh hamburger meat), and as many trips to the fixin's bar as you liked.  Anything you normally get on a taco salad was on that bar.  I used to pile on the ingredients, eat all that with about half the meat, then pile on a second helping of toppings to make another salad basically.  The price was about the same as their 1/3 lb burger.

These prices were in the 1985-1989 period.

My ex liked to go to Hamburger Hamlet in Bethesda, MD, when she lived there.  I went with her when I visited a few times.  The quality of the ingredients and cooking were unmatched.  And the menu was more for the "advanced" burger lover.  I liked the mushroom & Swiss cheese burger with steak fries.  My ex got the bleu cheese burger.  The bill was easily $40 each when you figure the sides were all ala carte, and the drinks were restaurant-priced for max profit.  The atmosphere was very much similar to a high end steak house with a large bar for singles to order food or for your normal crowd out for a few drinks.  These prices were from before 1985.

Golden Gate delt their last hand the other night.  CEO claims that when they installed digital BJ, craps, etc...those had more "action" on them than the tables. The new generation likes the machines instead of tables is what he said.

It's interesting because I didn't know the new gen that he's marketing toward stays at GG.  I see more of them on the strip and when we do go to downtown, it's like people in their mid 30's and not their 20's.

All dealers are being moved to Circa.

Fun fact, GG was the 1st casino in Vegas.  Hence their address of 1 Freemont Street.

I plan to try bubble craps again when I go to Vegas in December.  Last time I played it only because the live tables were always full.  I didn't care for it too much but this time I'll give it a fair chance.

I guess my mind is still fixated on live craps.  But last trip disgusted me as to why mgt. wouldn't open another table when it was clearly very busy and obvious there were players that wanted to play but couldn't find space at the table.

This upcoming trip will definitely dictate my future trip decisions.  Lots of other alternatives out there.

I've tried both and enjoy collecting chips and interacting with the dealer. Press, parlay, horn high yo, etc...You cannot do these on bubble craps due there being no dealer.

Mrs. CMO tired it for the 1st time at Aria after we ate at Din Tai Fun this past May.  She went on a god roll of 38. Problem was she was only betting $3 and beacuse she likes the field, she was basically betting the iron cross. So when a 6/8 would hit, her net profit was $0.50.  SHe would lose her $3 field bet and win $3.50 when the 6/8 hit. She also never pressed. She only won $100 from this god roll.

had she been on a table with a $15 min, she would have at least won at least $500 and the dealers would prob be teller her to press or at least press for her as they do that sometimes if it's in your best interest. I was telling her to press, but she didn't listen.

And if I had been on that table, I'd prob have $1500 in profit.

I've been on craps tables where the rolls go hot, cold, cold, hot, hot, cold, cold, .....   There's no strategy that makes big money in all cases.

I do know that when a hot roller is up, the outcome depends on the numbers rolled.  38 rolls could be half crap numbers.  2,3 and 12 don't make much money unless you're betting them.  Most are betting on the standard 4,5,6,8,9,10 layout.  However, if most of the numbers rolled are on the place bets, people pressing or playing the COME bets are making bank.  I watched 2 methods while a first timer rolled for a long time.  She and her husband would roll a placed number and take the winnings.  Then a couple of numbers later they pressed.  Another in our group was pressing almost every roll.  She must have had $1600 on the table after starting with $300 before the 7 came.  She wound up down $300.  In contrast, the couple of newbies walked away with over $400 each.  I made about $325, because I was pressing once, then taking once.

Craps is fun and it can make you a lot of money in a short time.  But, you need a lot more to sustain the loses unless you are just super lucky.

Another thing about tables, this is just by my feelings: I feel that the BJ/Baccarat/Roulette aren't the same odds as the real tables.  I've seen multiple youtubers play each and I was amazed at the amount of times they lost.  Compare this to the many table vids I've seen.  Example: 1 BJ eletronic table shows the history of hands dealt.  The dealer hadn't bust in over 15 hands.

IDK what the RNG is compared to real table games as I don't play any of those 3.  Plus the format of these look like they're from the 90's and not fun to play.

Compared to bubble craps, unless there's some kind of magnet, the dice "bubble" and it's more uncontrolled. So true chance like throwing the dice.

What's interesting is the LV Tourism Authority is spending millions on marketing Vegas to people. IMO, this is a way to pay "marketing" people aka their friends.

1 thing they have is at the airport arrivals near the rideshare is a new "Welcome to Vegas" type sign to take pics.  But no one will go to the airport just to take pics with a new sign and people already there have already come.

Wynn has gotten rid of their 000 roulette table.

I think the new trend is showing that casinos are slowly reducing things to bring gamblers back.  But not at a huge level.  It' slike they do as little as needed to bring in more people.

Unfortunately most of the popular resorts are owned by a small number of corporations.  If we allow competition to drive prices down, there's really no pressure from one property to the next.

If they drop prices at one of their properties, do they also have to drop prices at all their properties?  if they don't, then other corporations aren't going to feel much impact.  Seems very complicated compared to individually owned casinos.

I think individually owned casinos would benefit visitors better.

But I dunno.  Derek Stevens who owns the D, Circa, and Golden Gate Downtown went to 100% electronic table games at the Golden Gate location.

I really think Vegas would suck big time if all the properties went to 100% electronic table games.

Profits would soar but people would have to come for it to be a reality.

In most companies that provide public services and product sales, labor is almost always their biggest expense.

The more they switch over to machines, the less expensive the casinos are to operate.
