What happened to the Hawaii I used to know ?

Maybe more and more Hawaii people will be making the switch.  Most Hawaii people just love to play (gamble).  So if they can do it longer on less money, they will be happy happy.

I've heard stories of Hawaii gamblers from the moment they arrive at their chosen casino to the moment they have to leave; they never left the property.  To them, Vegas is not the sights, sounds, entertainment, or high end food.

To them, Vegas is a cheap table game, a $5 craps table, or quarter slot machines.

I think either many of the old timers that would be playing all day died during covid.  When I was downtown when Vegas reopened and a few years later, there were much less old people there.  Like Fremont craps table was empty at 2pm. I was the only one throwing the dice.  Precovid, at that time at least 2 tables were full and having all 4 full wouldn't be uncommon.  Mostly with old people.

Or another posibility is that due to covid lockdowns and high risk for old people, they stayed home and their health deteriorated faster, so they're unable to move around as easily.  When you're old and stay home all day, your physical and mental health decline quickly compared to leaving the house to do stuff.  So they're unable to go to Vegas now.

I think casinos run it. Without them paying for stuff, the policiticans would lose.  Sisoulak their Governor shut down the casinos during covid. He lost his reelection.  I'm guessing the casinos were pissed since they lost billions.

EDC was this past weekend.  Prior EDC's had about the same attendence 500,000 for 3 days.  But going and leaving wasn't that bad.  This past one, people were waiting about 2 hours in the sun at various hotel parking lots for the shuttle as the lines were longer than prior years.  Then with traffic, the ride took about 2 hours.  Prior years was like 1 hour.  I cannot confirm, but usually Andrews AFB opens so the shuttles can pass through as it's faster, a few said this year it was closed.

Then to leave it took about 4 hours to wait for the shuttle in line.  People were leaving at 4:30am and didn't get back to their hotel until 11am.

So IDK what actually changed this EDC, but the number of attendees remained the same as prior years.

Part of it may have been a break in routines.  People used to go once a year, or once a month.  Throw in a 3 year break plus a reluctance of dying of the disease, old people don't feel like going anymore.

I used to go there twice year.  I've been there once or twice since covid.  I just don't feel the urge to go there.

Rio has $3 craps now.  It started with $3 craps from 3am to 8am daily.  Now I think it's longer, mostly during the day.

Found this out by watching Steve Craps Channel.  A friend of Danny the Medic.  They let him film the table action as long as he don't film the dealers.

Good that they started this.  Hopefully more people visit that place.  It's dead.

I get that Danny is just playing to play. But he's losing money. At $3, the casino rounds down. So he's winning even money on the place bets or odds.  I learned this when Fremont had $3 craps and Mrs. CMO was betting $3 passline with $3 odds.
