« on: January 05, 2024, 08:33:52 AM »
who do you know is approved by hpd as a firearm safety instructor and how much do they charge?
I'll update the OP as more are added.

these are what I know of so far:
HGS - $175
Kit N Gun - 180 without range fee
X-Ring - website says $250
Prime Sports
Young Guns

Rocky - $150 per class  + $50 range fee. (range fee waived for active military and 1st responders)
BYO Ammo, No Reloads
$200 per class  + $50 range fee if I supply ammo
Classes held on Saturdays but can also do groups on weekdays
Covered out door 15 yd range

BNR

post what you know of with the price. probably most of us will taking the class at some time. would be nice to have a list of places to go to and how much they charge

I spoke to Kit the day he posted on his IG about being approved. He charges $200 for the CCW and $180 for the handgun safety class. This excludes any range fees.

As instructors can now combine courses, I'd say both classes for $250 + range fee if any IF Qualified / Proficient (active military, LEO, DOD, Contractor, avid shooter for the past year or more, proof of training / classes etc...)
(I have hesitation providing LTC to someone who just purchased their first firearm last month or so and has fired it rarely if at all, much less drawing from concealed. )

Is it your right to bear arms ?
Yes, but is it my right to not provide a service to someone unable to perform competently and responsibly with the service I provide.
I have seen other LTC classes where it's the students 3rd or 4th time trying to pass the proficiency test on a 23'' x 45''  B-27E target AND FAIL again !
Not in the constitution but my Kids did not get a car till they could adequately drive in public.

I always envision being at the mall with an LTC carrier on the other side of the food court and an active shooter in between us.  :shake:

HGS is $175 per. That’s include range. Bring your own firearm and ammo. Me and my son signed up the other day.

Since each county has their own set of rules, can the LTC class taken on Oahu be used to apply for a permit on Maui, Kauai and Hawaii Counties?

is a dentist a "1st responder"?
Contrary to popular beliefs, dentist's are Drs and Drs make too much money for discount.  :o

Thanks Rock. Glad all is well with you as well.

I should have been more specific. I was actually referencing the experiential component, not the range fee.

And if that still doesn't count, what kind of plate lunch can be substituted in place of acceptable range experience?

No wonder this bill faced little resistance - we eat our own. Ridiculous prices. What a crock of shit we created for ourselves.

...
I'm pretty sure this legislation faced little resistance because of the method by which it was introduced.
It looked like Pearl Harbor.
I looked back at the messages on this forum and at news reports when this was being formed and could not find any publicity or yellow flags.
Correct me if I'm wrong. I just did a quick search.

You're being former military and also having your verifiable range time/ experience would make you "Qualified / Proficient"
PLATE LUNCH OPTIONAL
