I've been posting this on all the anti-gun facebook pages I'm not yet banned from:
The Department of Homeland Security produced a video a while back that gave advice for dealing with an active shooter. The three things you should do in an active shooter scenario are run, hide, and fight. Let's look at that last one.
The slide for fight says, "As a last resort, and only if your life is in danger, FIGHT.
-Attempt to incapacitate the shooter
-Act with physical aggression
-Improvise weapons
-Commit to your actions"
I'd say the principal at Sandy Hook did everything someone in her situation could be expected to do. She acted in a committed, aggressive manner in an attempt to incapacitate the shooter. Unfortunately, we have laws that prohibit people like Dawn Hochsprung from having effective tools available. Rather than having a gun she could have used to fight and live, we condemned her to a fight against overwhelming odds: an unarmed female against a heavily armed male.
Her blood is on the hands of CAIG, MAIG, and all the Colin Goddards and Sarah Bradys of the world who would have us all reduced to cowering wretches, praying the gunman doesn't come for us, when you know full well that all too often, he does.
