Everybody, motorists, cyclists, pedestrians.

They just do anykine now.  I see it every day.  Nobody cares until someone dies.  Stupid people.

Yesterday school's out and I'm waiting for my grandaughter and at least 5 f*ckers are speeding through the school zone I swear in excess of 40 mph. while the kids just started to reach the street.

I think licensing e-bikes like motorcycles misses the point, since a lot of the trouble comes down to rider behavior on shared paths
If someone is worried about cyclist liability, having proper insurance makes sense
I use Sundays for my e-bike and their cover has been solid for both racing and everyday riding

I think licensing e-bikes like motorcycles is overkill, but riders need to respect rules
Posting speed limits on shared paths seems practical for everyone
Since theft of eBikes have become a big problem, having them registered and plated like a motorcycle could be a good way for cops to spot stolen eBikes.

If you dissolve your enemies in acid, technically that's turning your problems into a solution.

This obsession with safety is crushing the human spirt.

Look at what's happening to Japan. They regulated themselves into sterility and their suicide rate is off the chart.

Yeah, like that safety obsession that lets more people here die in vehicle-pedestrian accidents than any other state.

Quote
While many of last year’s accidents remain under investigation, a process that
can take up to a year, “more than 90% of the fatal crashes in 2025 can be
attributed to behavior,” including cellphone use and speeding, Hawai‘i Department
of Transportation Director Ed Sniffen said in a statement released New Year’s Eve.

Oʻahu alone made up more than half of the traffic deaths, increasing from 51 in
2024 to 82 in 2025, with motorcycle and motor scooter fatalities alone accounting
for about a third of the fatalities.

It's not so much that we have too many safety rules. It's that we don't have enough police doing enforcement of the things that lead to preventable deaths. Rules are useless without enforcement AND penalties.

A lot of it has to do with individualism vs community minded mentality like Japan where they have a small fraction of the fatalities as the US.  In Japan they follow the rules for vehicles and pedestrians as they put community first.  In ths US, it's basically do whatever you want and complacency as far as speeding, phone use, jaywalking, DUI, etc.

For Ebikes and kids, there isn't a strong push to encourage training and mentorship, along with bad parenting.  I don't agree with helmet and seatbelt laws, but I think it's stupid not to use one.
