Well that's convenient.
There are a bunch of competing theories about how to stop the steal.
1. Vote early. Advantages are that something might happen on voting day and you can't make it, and your vote will be counted on time (not delayed). The problem is they can see what the numbers are and this gives our criminal government more time to stuff the drop boxes with fraudulent votes in order to compensate.
2. Mail it in so that it gets there just before the deadline so that they have less opportunity for fraud, you don't have to stand in line, and no worries in case an emergency comes up.
3. Take your unopened mail-in ballot and show up to vote in person. This way you can make sure nobody else stole your vote. If they tell you that someone already voted in your name then you can file a police report for stole identity. Sucks because you have to stand in line and risky because an emergency might come up and prevent you from going, but in-person voting makes it a lot more difficult for the fraudsters. Just keep your ballot on you in case you have to fill it out and stuff it in the drop box at the last minute because of an emergency.
I was leaning towards number two, but this commercial helped me make up my mind. My policy since covid is always do the opposite of what the government tells me to, and in this case it's clear that showing up in person is what they fear most.
In 2020, I dropped mine off at the collection box in Mililani Mauka. There was a line of cars, but volunteers would take your ballot and put it in the box as you watched so you could stay in the vehicle.
I went on election day, so I knew I was not casting a ballot before any October surprises popped up to make me wish I'd waited.
I trust the drop boxes more than the post office. So many stories over the years of blank and completed ballots found in dumpsters and trash cans allegedly put there by postal carriers. The theory is they were preventing delivery from areas that are predominantly Republican voters.
At this point, I don't trust anyone who handles ballots before they are scanned. So, the choice is in-person to watch it scanned, or drop boxes where only election divison staff, not postal workers, transport them to be counted.
I'd like to see early voting reduced to just a 3-day period -- Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Better than a single day in large districts, and less opportunity for monkey business with "lost" or "found" ballots.
