REPORT: FEMA Supervisor Told Employees
To ‘Avoid Homes Advertising Trump’

Quote
A Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) supervisor reportedly told aid
workers to skip over Trump supporters’ homes while doling out aid after Hurricane
Milton in Florida, according to internal communications and federal workers.

Marn’i Washington, a FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance crew leader for Highland
County, was identified as the supervisor who allegedly gave the order, the Daily Wire
first reported. The outlet provided a screenshot featuring a flowchart of the leadership
that shows the name.

Washington told workers who were seeking Lake Placid, Florida residents who qualified
for post-hurricane aid in late October to “avoid homes advertising Trump signs,” the
outlet reported, citing texts it verified using multiple federal workers.

do you think Marn'i Washington will be fired?  or is she of that un-fireable protected demographic?

used to be govt workers that you can't fire, you try to get them promoted out of the position into somebody else's agency or work group, preferably as far away from you as possible.  make them somebody else's problem.

will be protected by Mayorkas?

Marn'i Washington gets paid by taxpayers.  Including those who support Trump.

This is why Trump needs to look into government bureaucracy.

There's too many puke-a$$ f*ckers like Marn'i here.

How da f*ck did Marn'i become a FEMA Supervisor.  I have a feeling we all know the answer to this question.

So stupid and democrat kool-aid drunk that this whatever forgets the catastrophe was caused by a hurricane, not the future President of the United States.

The employees that skipped the houses were not FEMA employees, they were volunteers from other DHS components (TSA, DOD, FAA, FAMS, IRS, etc.) that came to assist and worked under the direct supervision of FEMA managers/team leaders.. They purposely skipped those houses for the sole purpose of collecting evidence to support the claim of discrimination against Trump supporters and, as a result, they gathered a mountain of evidence that cannot be disputed.

For every house one visists, one documents whether or not they made contact on a database app that automatically uploads the information to FEMA servers. If they don't make contact, they have to state why. For every house they didn't go to because they were Trump supporters they documented in the app that they didn't because they were forbidden from doing so by their Team Leader, because the house/owner professed support for Trump via Trump flag, bumper sticker, yard sign, etc. For each one of those houses they took a screenshot of the database app entry followed by a picture of the house. Screenshots of the evidence collected has already been shown in this thread and there's plenty more online. It was a collective effort among the DHS employees that were disgusted by their FEMA manager's orders.

Once enough evidence was collected, they did the right thing and returned to those houses several days later when the team leader that issued those orders was on their day off.

Once enough evidence was gathered they got out of dodge as they wanted no more of FEMA and their stupidity...
They said "screw this" and went back to their home agencies before their 30 day deployment commitment, and practically every one of them reported their finding and the evidence to their respective OIG office. This took place about 2-3 weeks ago. Me thinks they got tired of waiting for OIG to do its thing and some of them finally leaked it to the press.

FEMA employee fired after telling relief team to skip
houses with Trump signs following Florida hurricane

Quote
A Federal Emergency Management Agency employee has been fired after they
advised their disaster relief team to avoid homes with signs supporting former
President Donald Trump while canvassing in Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane
Milton, the agency’s administrator said Saturday.

FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell called the actions of the employee “reprehensible”
and said they have been terminated from their role.
Quote
CNN reported Friday that the employee had been removed from their role and that
the incident was under investigation. The agency did not identify the employee and said
it believed it was “an isolated incident.”

“The employee who issued this guidance had no authority and was given no direction
to tell teams to avoid these homes,” a FEMA spokesperson said Friday.

From their "role?"  This isn't a play or movie.  Role?

To me, that wording implies she is still employed but is no longer in the position she held when the texts were sent, possibly pending the outcome of the investigation.

They know she sent  the text.  They know how many people received it.  There's no excuse for what she texted.  How much of an "investigation" is really required?

More lack of accountability.  FEMA is under the microscope already for their lack of effectiveness since before the Maui Wildfire.  The lack of FEMA's ability to provide assistance to disaster victims dates back to beyond the last 20 years, starting around Hurricane Katrina.

IMO, FEMA was a good idea -- consolidating the Red Cross' resources, Civil Defense and National Guard resources in times of natural disaster.  They should bring communications and command & control equipment and training to coordinate the relief and rescue efforts.  Instead, they have become another bloated agency under the Department of Homeland Security.  When you look at the failures of border protection, Secret Service Protection details and FEMA responses, it's apparent where the problem lies.

Mayorkas:  such a smug prick.

anyways, IMHO, it seems the media is interpreting "removed from her role" as being fired.

in govt-speak, it usually means she was transferred to another position out of the limelight.  Still collecting a paycheck, usually the same pay, but sometimes more.
I wonder if she'll produce some guidance from "Leadship" that allowed her interpretation.  She will say "not her fault, she was just following orders".

She should be criminally charged.  I trust Ron DeSantis is working that angle.

Government employees are really difficult to fire.  If they've met or exceeded the minimum standards for their position (which are usually written very minimal so people have no problem "exceeding standard" on their annual review), or if the agency has a written policy that the employee received training on, it becomes a training issue at best.

The civil service system is set up so personality conflicts and other issues don't cause someone to get fired.  They can fail to meet the standards which are supposed to be written so they can be measured objectively (e.g. # of times they can be late with periodic reports, ...).  Or, they can violate a specific policy (if it's not policy, it can't involve disciplinary action).  I have a feeling the investigation will find she didn't violate any policies, and any other guidance she might have violated would have to have been provided to her in training and/or writing to be able to hold her accountable.

I think she'll keep her job, just because firing someone in gov't is too damn much work.

Yes they should be fired.
If found guilty by a court of law, they should be given orange jump suits
by the Orange Man himself.

The real problem is FEMA itself.  They can't perform their mission because of mismanagement.  Now they have created an even bigger problem by having this kind of partisan behavior publicly exposed and proven.

You can bet, if one FEMA employee did this, there were others as well.  This one was dumb enough to get caught by workers who documented it.

I wonder if she was a DEI hire?

The problem with DEI and Affirmative Action is anyone who fits the profile is assumed to have been hired based on their profile and not superior qualifications compared to other applicants.

Affirmative Action and other race based programs intended to create a "level playing field" for minorities has been described as "the soft bigotry of low expectations."  The phrase was coined by President George W. Bush in 2000.
