Hurt hunter is in custody
A 32-year-old Big Island man recovering from a hunting accident was arrested for allegedly violating federal parole by possessing a weapon and ammunition.

Big Island police learned that Jarret Kaneshiro allegedly had been illegally hunting pigs on private land with four others when he was accidentally shot in the chest. He was taken to Hilo Medical Center and subsequently flown to Oahu in critical condition.

A search of the man's Mountain View home and his car uncovered 11.8 grams of marijuana buds as well as ammunition.

He was on federal parole when he was shot, and was arrested after being released from the Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu. He is now in custody at the Federal Detention Center near Honolulu Airport.

Additional criminal trespass cases have been initiated against the man and four other hunters who were illegally hunting at ML Macadamia Orchards on June 19, police said.

After the shooting, landowners formed a committee to work with police to address the problem of illegal hunting on private land.

Guys, come on!  If taking a prohibited substance with you while using an illegally possessed firearm to trespass on private property and poach game while on parole isn't American, then what is?
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.
