I hate answering questions with "it depends," but here we are.

Depending on what you will use them for the most, there are different ones better suited for different uses.

Connecting to:

  Android phone?
  iPhone?
  TV?
  PC?

Need noise-canceling?

Wireless charging?

You pretty much need to connect a few types to your intended Blutooth devices and see how they sound AND feel.  Not all the buds I tried fit my ears comfortably.

Here's a short list for 5 different applications...

Okay.  That helps.

i don't have any myself due to the cost of the ones I like and the complaints and designs of the affordable ones.  Ones i would choose are $400-$525.  I don't like a wire tying the two buds together with inline batteries and controls.  Personal preference.

i also don't like the over-the-ear hooks some buds have.  if they fit well enough to prevent hearing damage, they should be tight enough to not fall out.  If they need hooks because the buds are too heavy without them, i'd look for lighter ones.

Earmuffs have been more affordable and have all the features I need including adjustable noise cancellation so i can hear more or less ambient sounds like conversations.

Wish I could give you more direct knowledge, but I can only offer what i learned when thinking about getting some myself.

Otto Noizebarrier

Quite pricey, but excellent. Been using them for the last year or so.  Sometimes I still use Sordins, but mostly when I know I will be around rifles with brakes.

I used to prefer cheap rubber flanged ear buds (not electronic fancy type) but I seemed to have problems with compacted ear wax from wearing them too often (shooting and woodworking) so I started using over the ear type. Not as comfortable but more protection.

Sound suppression will vary in earbuds.  Axils are on the low end and suited for standard calibers outside.  The 3m and Otto buds used with 3m skullscrewz foam tips give the most sound suppression enough for standard calibers indoors and magnums outdoors.

Custom molded electronic plugs usually sit in the middle.

Try the Otto's with these, it'll be a bit better.

Thanks. I use Comply and it’s good. Just when RO’ing folks with brakes rattles the jaw. I’m down to try that, but over ear still helps at times.

3m 1100 foam earplugs.

If Im shooting for an extended period, or something extra loud, or someone next to me is, I just double up with cheap electronic earmuffs so that I can still hear announcements.

Pros is they are cheap, never have to worry about losing them. In my opinion they reduce noise better than any of those fancy earpros. Easy to double up on earpro.

Cons is they arent very reusable, they dont work as good after several in and outs. Cant listen to any music or anything which I dont think you should be doing anyway at the range.

3m tri flange. Those neon green plastic and rubbery ones. Washable. Cheap . It hangs from my neck when not in use via corded out the box.

I'm gonna try axil gs 2.0 extreme tho. It's on sale. My friend and I are halving it. Buy one get one free. So it's a few bucks cheaper than when it's on sale at 129 for just 1. I don't like ear muffs. Not only prevents my cheek weld for rifles but it gives me a headache after bout 20 minutes. Never tried sordins but I've had walkers, lights, couple 3m (forgot the models) ranging from Bluetooth to non electronic versions.
