Maybe we should fly over to Mexico to buy our eggs.  Might be cheaper.  ;)

Just kidding but look at the comparison on prices.

This is why the road to Making America Great Again will be plagued by ambushes.  Hopefully Americans can stay the course and withstand all the misinformation and BS along the way.

Like you said, there are those out there that would do anything to have another biden and harris in 4 years.  Oh and another Walz and that bald-headed fu*ker with red lipstick and a dress.......

Walmart and Costco had plenty at fair prices.

i bought 2 dozen eggs from Costco in Waipio on 2/6 for $6.89.  They had a 3 container per member limit.  They had about 1/3 the amount of eggs in the cooler than normal.

The trip prior on 1/15 cost $8.99 for 2 dozen.  The pallets were almost empty.

Just something to use for comparison.

I was at Costco Kona on Friday as soon as they opened and they had lots of eggs that were quickly being depleted.

I don’t buy eggs as my four hens are supplying what I need.  Three months ago I had seven but got rid of three that were hardly laying.

Someone asked me if I vaccinated my birds. I said no, that’s what immune systems are for.

President Trump and Elon Musk would be proud of you trimming the fat in your egg production employees.

Kinda funny because they voted for the party that wants to make real food prohibitively expensive so that us plebs will be forced to eat bugs

My wife and her sister would bring my mother-in-law to the Schofield Commissary to buy groceries every other week or so and my mother-in-law would tell them if they need something she'll buy it and they can pay her back.  Mother-in-law is a widow and cannot drive anymore.

My wife got a dozen mainland eggs.  They were $4.79 for a dozen.

And with the price of bread and mayo, an egg sandwich is an expensive meal nowadays.

I've read this month that some CA residents are renting chickens from those who have them to help during the shortages.

Many retailers like Costco have customers lining up hours ahead of the doors opening to get eggs before the supply runs out each day.  Some stores have separate entrances set up just for customers buying eggs.

Here's a recent update on what's being planned to help with the shortages:

A few days ago, I was walking the dawg by the softball field across the street.
Somebody threw a lot of raw eggs around the field.
There were broken eggs all over the place.
What does that mean?

I have a picture if you don't believe me.

Eggs going cost almost $1 each.  That's because they gotta kill millions of chickens.

Can we still eat those chickens?  If we BBQ it to death it should be ok, right?

edited to add:  No can.  Google-Fu said no can.

By the way, not only eggs expensive.  Chicken is expensive too.

How long does it take for a laying hen to mature into a productive egg layer?
Quote
During ideal day length (14-16 hours of light) and with adequate nutrition,
housing, and management, hens (depending on breed) should begin
producing eggs when they are18- 22 weeks old.

18-22 weeks is roughly 4.5 to 5.5 months.  So the destroyed hen population could already be close to replacement if enough eggs have been set aside for hatching new hens.  There's also the alternative of buying young, hatched laying hens from other countries that don't have bird flu problems.

Can laying hens be harvested for meat?
Quote
You may butcher laying hens for home consumption, but as their genetics
are for egg production, their meat is tough and there is not as much of it
compared to a meat-type chicken. Stewing laying hen meat makes it more
edible, as does using it in soups. Laying hens may have a fair amount of fat
that may need to be skimmed from the dish being prepared.
https://livestock.extension.wisc.edu/articles/life-cycle-of-a-laying-hen/

The bigger question is how safe can we make the new hens so they are not infected?  According to the article I linked earlier:
Quote
he Agriculture Department plans to invest as much as $1 billion to address
egg costs. That includes $500 million for expanded biosecurity measures at
farms, $400 million in financial relief for affected farmers and $100 million for
further research into vaccinations for egg-laying chickens.

"Biosecurity measures" includes tracking and alerting farmers when there's a detected infection or increased risk of infection.
