Responding officers found the 45-year-old man slumped over in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. He was unresponsive, had no pulse, and his face appeared purple, police said.

According to court documents, McConnell admitted to police and to a friend that she strangled her boyfriend with a seat belt.

She said her boyfriend tried to kill her before she strangled him to death with a seat belt.

Strangulation doesn't strike me as a plausible means of self defense.

If he wasn't able to prevent his own strangulation, he was probably stoned and not much of a threat. 

I have a feeling the motive was more along the lines of him stealing her meth.
