“He got into her car, held a knife to her, tied her up and sexually assaulted her. Four hours later he dragged her to the ocean to drown her.

Shinagawa told the court at Joseph’s sentencing hearing on May 8 that she struggled to keep her head above water.

“At this moment I was faced with a decision. I could do nothing and die, or I could try to fight back and hopefully survive,” she said.

Shinagawa said she bit, scratched and kicked him until he gave up and let her go.

Joseph pleaded guilty to kidnapping and robbery. In exchange, all the sex assault charges were dropped and he was released with credit for time served.

Shinagawa was angry about his quick release: “I firmly believe we need to put this dangerous person away so that I’m the last victim.”

Not even an attempted murder charge, plus all the sex assault charges were dropped and he was released with credit for time served.

Fuck the prosecutors here.  Looks like there is an excellent opportunity here a for business geared to arrange discrete disappearances.

Ah, see the natural rise of “vigilante justice” in the vacuum created by the non-prosecution of crime:

The brutal April attack was posted online earlier this month and sparked widespread anger from the Wahiawa community, who took matters into their own hands and hunted down the suspects.

The community members livestreamed themselves as they went looking for the bullies at their homes, with as many as 11,000 people watching at one point, as reported by Hawaii News Now.

Footage shows dozens of students and parents heading to the suspects' residences, with someone climbing up a building's exterior at one point. The vigilantes knocked on their doors and demanded the bullies came out and meet with them.”

Who could have seen that coming …

I think its a broader plan to gentrify Hawaii - to make it a Pacifica version of Martha's Vineyard. Increase crime leads to lower property values. Less police, more crime. Less police less arrests, less prison population.

You may very well be right.

I just think they’re aiming to make Honolulu the Port-Au-Prince of the Pacific, because they’re incapable of anything else.  We’re just getting to their natural end state.

I’ve lived here for 51 years, and I’ve been fully convinced of this since the 90’s - and even I am shocked by what I see now.

I grew up in Kalihi right across KamIV - Wilson, Jennie Street neighborhood.

Awesome dude!  We’ve lived on Jennie Street since 1999, on the stream (Makai on Jennie, a few houses down from Alu).

Man I love this place and my neighbors - I think you were lucky to grow up here.  Your family still here?
