I am an AR person though if I had more money I would also own an AK or two. I say shoot whats makes you happy. If it is one over the other or an equal love affair with both. I say if it doesn't increase your heart rate and if you don't look at it like a second wife then it is not for you.

I know I'm weird.

I agree, shoot what makes you happy.  Unless what makes you happy is an AK, that makes you a Communista!!

AR for capacity, weight, better controls, better sights.

i love ak's but if i only chose one, i would choose ar all day.  If there's a shtf situation where i need reliability without much lube, then i'd choose a piston ar.  ;D (which i own several).  I like the .30 caliber bullet of the 7.62x39, but i don't like the curve it requires in teh magazine.  ar15 magazines are so much easier to carry.
Same. PWS MK114

Both are the most proliferated rifles in the world and for good reason. AKs are not known for accuracy as they were designed with reliability as the first priority. No last shot bolt hold open.
ARs on the other hand are very accurate and in my personal exp. pretty reliable in desert sand.  Take your pick. I have shot ARs to 600 yards with great accuracy but not AKs so I can't say much about its accuracy at that range.

Is this because of the picture?

Yeah, the quote didn't come out as I thought it would.

AR. Partly because of the accuracy advantage, but mostly because of the modularity. It's insane what you can build from a simple AR lower. Anywhere from a long-range rifle with a .50 BMG upper to an sbr for cqb and anywhere in between. Pick a caliber, 5.56, 9mm, 6.8 spc, .50 bmg, .22, 300 blk...the list goes on. It's truly amazing what you can do from that simple AR lower. I love AK's but if I had to pick just one, an AR would be it.

Never shot an AK, closest was a CZ527 bolt action in 7.62x39.
We shoot my bosses colt AR all the time.

To me the Ar is kinda boring and i dont like the way it feels.  I got no problem shooting with it, pretty consistent @100yards.
Shooting the CZ was fun. I enjoyed shooting it.  Just as consistent with me @100yards.  I imagine shooting an AK would be just as fun.

Just get a PWS MK116 that shoot the 300 Blackout rounds. I get to shoot .30 caliber bullets out of an AR platform and it's a piston driven rifle - the best of both worlds.

Geez if the .300 Blackout became mainstream I would convert in a heartbeat.  AR vs AK comes down to preferences to you, your body type, etc.  It's like the 9mm vs .45 ACP.  For instance an M&P 9, for me I can drive that gun fast and accurate.  In a worst case scenario where I can no longer use my strong hand, I can still accurately shoot with my reaction hand or worst yet I become incapacitated and my wife has to defend my family, should would be more effective in driving that gun then say a knighthawk 1911 .45 ACP.  Same can be said about AR vs AK, in a worst case scenario which would you side with AR than AK.  Have you tried rubbing your hands with dishwasher soap and lightly handling your AR/AK (Unloaded and Safe of course) to simulate blood?  Unless you have grip tape on your AK, I was more effective in driving my AR than an AK.  Just my 2 cents.

while i wouldn't completely convert, i'd definitely pick up some .300 blk uppers if the round became mainstream.  Having all standard ar15 parts aside from the barrel is genius.
