Battery Banks

Ecoflow has been having some good sales at Costco recently. While most people snapped up the Delta Pro power stations there are still lots of the smaller River series in stock, and at $200 it's a pretty good deal.

My guess is people don't understand that it works as a UPS for a computer, except unlike the CyberPower towers the life expectancy is around 10 years.

It's not going to run a fridge but could definitely keep the lights on or charge batteries in a remote area.

Plus have you ever heard of a UPS that you could charge with a solar panel (in around 2 hours)?

The costco unit you posted has 286Wh while a typical 12V 60Ah car battery has a capacity of around 720 Wh.
Basically that's all those power storage units are is battery's with built in inverter.
I bought one of those power stations 7 yrs ago.
 https://www.amazon.com/CyberPower-CP1500AVRLCD3-Intelligent-System-Outlets/dp/B0BCMLLSHL/ref=asc_df_B0BCMLLSHL?tag=bngsmtphsnus-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80264475882810&hvnetw=s&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=71397&hvtargid=pla-4583863999867515&th=1

When it died 2 years later I opened it up to find 2) 12v 9Ah battery's one of which failed.
Replacement cost is $37

Instead of replacing it's battery, I bought a Power Bright PW2300-12 Power Inverter which turns 12 Volt DC To 110 Volt AC supplying 2300 Watt or about 20 amps for around $200. (It's also Sine wave)
With that I can keep my fridge cold on one car battery for more than 24 hrs using intermittently as needed.
Car battery's I can charge by solar and I always keep several battery's charged,
I use the remaining CP good battery for my emergency lighting (vehicle halogen brake light easily illuminates 24' x 24' room )

Will actually be bringing the unit to an outdoor wedding this week as a back up for mic/amp if there's a power outage.
Will hook inverter to running vehicle if needed as it will be quieter than the generator I'm also bringing as I'm sure a band would need more than 20 amps

As long as it’s a deep cycle and not a starting battery that’s a tried and true solution.

The new lifelpo batteries are pretty incredible, especially when it comes to fast charging, weight savings, and 10 year lifespan. It’s nice to silently charge on solar as well.

The main advantage of the ecoflow that pushed it into the buy category for me was the quick power switching that makes it suitable for a computer ups. Because of that it’s something I will use everyday and once the computer is safely shut down the bank is very light and portable and can fill other tasks in the event of a power outage.
