Was he using the approved HPD strike area technique? Like they aren't allowed head strikes.

Found the video.
They looked to be non-lethal strike areas. He eventually went down but he took a lot of strikes.

In the old "street" days, snapping off a car antennae made an effective whip (so I've heard)
“I ask you to judge me by the enemies I have made.”

There are some steel cable whip products out there, the whip isn't that long, maybe 12-15". Some fold and store in the handle, they can also be worn around the waist like a belt which gives a quick draw/deploy. Size and weight wise a baton is more cumbersome. I think the biggest downside is that the whip isn't going to perform well if the situation escalates to deadly force.

ASP Agent 50cm (just under 20 inches) collapsible all steel baton is 9 inches long, and fits in your front pocket, totally, legally, concealed.

It has serious mass, and will fracture/break exposed bones.  If you are reasonably skilled it will absolutely destroy someone’s day should they imprudently to try to molest you.

At least the original Nazi’s had the decency not to scream “Fascist!” as they shoot you for being an American.

How to defend yourself against a knife attack

Run-ate is one of the more effective and successful martial arts moves out there.

Gun-ate is the best.  But we live in hawaii.
Sometimes you gotta know when to save your bullets.

I see the steel cable whip as a weapon option for one or multiple attackers unarmed or carrying nothing more than another knife, bat, skateboard etc on them in terms of lethal options.

Here are some reasons to consider the whip
1) If you have to fly somewhere by airline (like Alaska Air) where they will confiscate your pepper spray, stun gun from your luggage (despite what the TSA says on their website :grrr:). Even they won't bar you from packing steel cable with a handle.
2) If you practice enough with it, you can swing it around to make it intimidating for somebody to close the distance. This can buy you a window to make a break for it, because like the knife, the whip or the baton make great space makers.
3) Should your attacker block; while you lack the concussive force of the baton, the whip will compensate by wrapping around your opponent's blocking arm and give him a mean welt around the sides of his guard.
4) Should your attacker close the distance; with a flexible cable whip you can use it as a garotte from the clinch. This opens up opportunities to choke them if you can get it wrapped across the backside of their neck and you grab the tip of the other side.
5) Get a model that has some form of grip retention to reduce your attacker's ability to take it from you. For reference, mine has a loop on the end of the handle where I can slide my pinky finger through.

I have been considering weapons like these for dealing with weakass punks who like to attack in groups these days. Where I live I normally carry pepper gel and a knife, but for travel with these globalist airlines who write their own rules I have considered and practiced with options such as these.

For groups, I recommend carrying a bigger group.

Not like our tyrannical state allows us to open carry our shotguns in the streets.

Why no.

I mean more pairs of fists, etc.

I know, I was making a joke.

It is fun seeing videos of the proud boys who would jump into action when the ANTIFA types would start harassing the peaceful protesters. The extra fists helped.
