register pistol with blank PTA
« on: December 05, 2025, 09:34:25 AM »
I picked up a blank PTA and have a handgun arriving soon. officer at firearms dept told me I need to bring in firearm to register bc it has a blank PTA. it is from a FFL/store. is this true, can't register online? or is HPD blowing hot air up my ass

I’d call and talk to Jiro.  Most of the time he answers, but if not try asking for him.  Nice guy, very helpful.  Spent a lot of time helping me with a complicated (error by FFL) registration issue.

He’ll give you the straight scoop.

I talked to Suzy who I've talked to before many times and she knows the process well
said I need to bring in the firearm with blank PTA bc it may be a new firearm that the FFL/store did not do paperwork on yet. so I guess I will have to make another trip down to hpd
blank PTA saves time, but does not save a trip to hpd
she said they are backlogged 500 online registrations and may take 2 months to receive online registration. not my problem. hpd better work faster. cut back on the eating chicken katsu and start working faster. chop-chop!

I have done the blank permit a couple of times and purchased new, out of the display case firearms at HGS and SEC and had to do in person registration at HPD as instructed by HPD, SEC and HGS.

When I picked up blanks I was just told to reg in person because they were backlogged.  I submit online but eventually did in person when I was in the area 2 weeks later. Just took pictures on my phone, didn’t bring the pistol with me.

The En Banc is in March with a decision at the end of the year or so.  The inspection lawsuit has a high likelihood of  reaching SCOTUS in 2027 or 2028.  The saga goes on...
