Internet Scammers

Scammin going around on FB Marketplace.  I was elated my monitor sold so fast and the guy want was sending me the money through venmo to reserve it right away.  Gave him my venmo info and I get a "Venmo" email from venmopaycustomer.service111@gmail.com and nothing on the phone app.  I get a messenger call from him, voice definitely doesn't match the picture, and he says the payment is on hold and to call the customer service number on the email.  Yep I'll do it right away *click*.  Friggin Nigerian scammers.
BTW anyone need a monitor?  I take Venmo LOL

Anyone have stories about their experience with scammers?

What's the monitor's resolution?

As for scammers, I got a letter from JG Wentworth -- the guys with all the catchy singing ads.  They want me to accept their generous offer of a $5,700 loan ... at 24%  minimum APR!!

They set each customer's interest rate based on credit history.  One example provided is an APR of 56.97%!  Finance charge if paid on time over 3 years would only cost me $3,792.52 interest.  But, if they qualify me for a higher rate, for example 97.19%, interest for 36 months would be a mere $7,207.90.

On top of that, they add to the principle you borrow an "origination fee" of 5.49%.  For a $3,500 loan amount, the fee would be $192.15.  If I got the $5,700 loan being offered, the fee would be $312.93.  Of course, there would be interest on top of that fee, too -- interest charged on a part of the loan that the lender gets to keep!

To be fair, JG Wentworth is only adding their name to this marketing material.  They aren't the actual lenders.  Kind of makes it even worse if you think about it.

Why get scammed by Nigerians when there are US businesses ready to take all your money?

I accepted the offer online, so I should have the money to buy your monitor very soon!   :geekdanc:  :wtf:
