Journey to Hawaiʻi

Nejad, her mother and brother came to Hawaiʻi because her brother was almost 18 years old, and in Iran every 18-year-old male is required to serve in the military for two years. She and her brother were able to get visas because her mother is a U.S. born citizen. Nejad’s intention was not to stay in America, rather she wanted to go back to Iran and attend a medical school. She brought her books with her to Hawaiʻi to keep studying for the medical school entrance exam, and wanted to go back to Iran as soon as she received her green card, which took about a month.

However, after arriving in the U.S. she contemplated whether to stay or return home. Staying in the U.S. at the time meant starting over in academics. Nejad was not able to transfer any advanced placement courses, and she was not familiar with the language or the process to even attend a university here. On the other hand, she could leave and return to Iran where she was almost ready to attend medical school. However, that meant Nejad would give up on the freedom that she experienced in the short time she was in the U.S.

“In the end I decided that having freedom and liberty as a woman was worth sacrificing my academic progress in Iran and starting over here in the U.S.,” Nejad said.

After almost two years of working full time in a corporate office and learning English, she decided to go back to school and attended Honolulu CC for about three years, and was able to complete an associate’s degree in liberal arts with focus on natural science. Nejad then enrolled at UH Mānoa in spring 2022. Aside from pursuing a degree in biology, she is a member of the Pre-Medical Association, Medical Student Mentorship Program, Health Occupations Students of America and CORPS Hawaii. Nejad is also a learning assistant in the School of Life Sciences under Professor Megan Porter.

No drinks for now. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Hopefully Beijing is too flustered to respond effectively and the Chinese people are inspired by the Iranian uprising.

My thoughts.

Iran is messing up by attacking other countries/areas like Saudi, UAE, Qatar, etc...and recently a Malaysian oil tanker (?).  Even if it's US bases or what ever in host areas, any ordinance that misses kills/harms that countries civllians and/or civilians who work/visiting on said bases.  Thus pissing everyone off.

What they should have done is take the hits and play the sympathy game with help from our democrats/liberals.  Iran doesn't have the numbers to defeat the US or any US backed country.  Attacks on their soil will eventually reduce their own output for weaponry.  Think when Hitler waged a 2 front war when he attacked Russia. Then when the allies began boming their factories.

I have a friend whos from Iran and came to the US about 15 years ago to escape the oppression.  Her parents told her what Iran was like before Islam took over and how they were more free, esp women.  So she's for this attack and getting rid of the current leadership so Iran goes back to how it was in the late 70's.

And apparently the HI missile alert button pusher got a job in Kuwait as they shot down 1 of our F15, friendly fire. Doh!

It’s a country half the size of Europe with 100 million people and here stockpile of missiles. We are already running out of ammo from multiple other confrontations. Nobody ever overthrew a regime with a bombing campaign, and the last time we tried boots on the ground it took 20 years and was unsuccessful.

Kids born today could be fighting in this war.

All true.

Let us pray that somehow, this time is different.

That's why I wonder how far logistics were factored in this action.

I heard on the news that ammo availability might be an issue and my first impression was how can this scenario not be addressed before deciding to cross over the point of no return?

My first reaction was MSM mis-information BS.

And I hope it is.

As far as boots on the ground, use Tier 1 and 2 SF units.  Have the Green Berets as boots on the ground.  They are supposed to be experts in guerilla warfare, changing regimes, training the insurgents, etc.

I could be wrong but these forces fall under a category different from conventional forces.  Maybe putting these guys in action doesn't require the pukes in Congress to dilly-dally and take 30 years to make a decision.

Everytime I think of Congress and their track record lately, I get nauseated on both ends and need to go to the bathroom.

Iran's retaliation does not lie in their now devastated military.

Remember, a stupid idiot opened the borders wide open for 4 years..........(while giving Iran money).

Bill O'Reilly advised the President on this exact same thing.

We have found the enemy, and it is biden........ :grrr:

What's interesting is that the fake news isn't doing much fake news stuff as usual. But instead independant social media pages that have thousands of followers are.  Then liberals are reposting them.

Example:

Statement about how there aren't only 3 US deaths when the bombing began, but instead 500+.
A vid  of Trump not smiling while walking, so the caption is that he knows he messed up by going to war with Iran.
US aircraft carrier sunk.
The cost of thousands of Iranian drones is $200K, and 44 Patriot Missiles $44,000,000, so the US is losing.

What I find interesting is that people with TDS hate him so bad that they're willing to promote propoganda for another country.  Irans cyber support department is alive and well and have been trained how to get the US people to turn on their own leadership even more to stop the bombings.

I’m just glad I don’t have to make those decisions. The Middle East looks like it’s about to erupt in all out chaos. Filled up my jerry cans and ordering some new tires for the bicycle.

I have my opinions and I acknowledge opinions can be wrong.

I support our POTUS and yes, I voted for him.  That doesn't mean I'll agree and accept everything he does.

I've been watching, reading and perusing over the thousands of news feeds that pop up almost every minute these past days about the strike on Iran by the US and Israel.

Most of them were approving of that is happening and some of them take the wait and see approach.

Today there are some feeds that claim the US has overdrawn their hand.  They paint a more gloomier and scarier scenario.

This is one of them.

That's what the left fails to understand, one can support and vote for someone, but not agree with everything.

All sides with any level of sophistication are also cranking up their LLM bots to pump out disinfo and propaganda. That’s just part of life now.
