Can you elaborate on what you're saying? Throwing out a declarative statement without context or references does't convey a complete thought.  Unless there is no relevance to the thread, in which case I'll just forget I even asked.

I've been waiting for Tesla to enable it on my car, but this won't work as I have an older Tesla.  I got a small cigarette lighter inverter for mine, but it only supplies 150 W.

About time tesla caught up with the rest !

I got this and keep a couple 12v battery's laying around.

Power out for 3 days and the freezer was nice and cold.

This guy is getting sued by battleborn btw.
He reported major safety issues and they flipped out on him.
Gotta be really careful with the brands you go with these days.

All the stores caught on couple years ago and do not allow returns on many items purchased before, during and right after a declared pending disaster or storm.  All the big box stores, City Mill and many others do not allow returns on generators, bottled water, batteries, flashlights and many other items.

Forecast models are calling for a large storm in our neighborhood around Sept 1.
We will see how it plays out since it’s so far away, but they’ve been remarkably accurate this year.

The steering winds in the Mid Pac slowed down, which means multiple storms are interacting with each other instead of maintaing a nice organized procession.
This is called the Fujiwhara effect, and it makes prediction with any accuracy nearly impossible.
We had a good practice run with Lala, so keep those lessons in mind and stay vigilant in case we end up facing something more intense next week,

A cat 4 hurricane with 155mph winds, possibly strengthening to CAT 5, has a possibility of circling around to Oahu.  Almost all homes would be leveled.  What is your plan?

My parents rent a large personal storage locker, so I'm thinking of putting valuables in there if Lowell turns more towards Oahu.  It's a multilevel masonry building so it should withstand the winds.  Maybe bag it up in trash bags incase it leaks.  My house is gone with a direct hit.  With a close hit, my house is at a low area on the street so I'll likely get flooded when the storm drains get overwhelmed.

Then leave my car in a concrete multilevel parking garage.

I also live next door to a school and emergency evacuation point. Most of my family is Mormon, so I grew up prepared.

I also keep my trees trimmed to a reasonable height.
Your most likely problem is power outages.

I just ordered some plywood for the windows. I've never had a Cat 5 aimed at me before, but I remember what my friend's house in Homestead looked like after Andrew. All that was left was the foundation.

I have a tree that the City planted in front of my house and all these years it is just a fricken rubbish maker.  This time of the year it is a ton of leaves.  Earlier in the year it drops so much of it's seeds and flowers that burst and stick to the sidewalk and makes it slick and shitty.

I hope if the hurricane comes it blows that fucking thing down.

La La didn't hit Oahu dead on but in Mililani Mauka a ton of trees fell down.  But the one in the front of my house didn't.

But seriously, if it gets real bad I'm going to tell my kids to put my grandkids in the bath tub and cover them with a mattress or something similar.

Let's all hope this hurricane, when it decides to turn north, it will be far from Kauai.

Oahu's going to be spared and Kauai avoids most of the damage though they might get more flooding.

This storm got me thinking what will I do if my house is gone, along with the whole neighborhood?  With what I stated prior, I also thought I would fly my elderly parents to the big island to live with relatives.  Or else they'd be living in community tents at refugee camps for a couple years.  Probably take at least 5 years to rebuild the house.  And where would they evacuate to during the storm?  I'm guessing the evacuation would involve packing 700,000 people in office buildings and hotels.

If it was a cat 2 or 3 I'd stay home by myself, wear my body armor, and keep the storm drains clear to keep my home from flooding.  Have caulk, spray foam, and sandbags/plywood ready to seal the house.  If the house gets blown away, I'd park my car next to a secure wall nearby and ride out the storm.

Hurricanes are extremely unpredictable, especially when two big ones start interacting with each other. NHC forecast is just a best guess. If you’re not already stocked up then don’t wait until the last minute when everyone else is panicking. Better to feel a little silly next week than to get caught with your pants down.
