WHY.

Unanimous decision by the Maui Police Commission to place the chief on PAID LEAVE while the federal investigations plays out.

How wonderful.  He gets to stay home and get paid.  For doing nothing.

That's taxpayer monies.  I can understand remove him from his duties as chief while the investigations are being done.

But sheesh, at least make him rake leaves at a f*ckn park or something.  Oh and make him wear a sign:  I IS BEING INVESTA-GATED.

This man is a trouble magnet, a Jonah. Trouble seems to follow him no matter where he goes.

The pay is justified at this moment since the Chief isn't under investigation himself and no evidence was presented.  The police commission could investigate and blame the chief for the lack of oversight on the unit

There were calls to suspend him in the past for the Diddy Combs incident that turned out to be nothing.

I'm not a legal expert so I see it from a different lens.  I still feel he should rake leaves or something.  He's getting paid for doing nothing.

When it comes to tax monies that I feel are being abused, I get irrational.  Happens too many times on the local and federal level.

All that monies could have cured the nation's and state's ills, LOL.

I agree, missed that part about raking leaves earlier.  Maybe something more substantial with his position like doing outreach in the community like giving speeches at schools, public service announcements, work on policies, research stuff, etc.

LOL.  You are too kind.

Me, not so much.

He needs to rake leaves, so he can learn what service to others really means. :shaka:

Its not me its the mayor....

https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2026/10/09/maui-police-chief-fights-paid-leave-with-accusation-against-mayor/

At a news conference Friday afternoon with his attorney, Eric Seitz, Pelletier made a bombshell claim of his own: that Bissen had him sidelined because Bissen has been under criminal investigation since August.

“I will tell you, it’s a felonious crime and the mayor is the suspect,” Pelletier said. He refused to provide any more details and he said he is recused from the investigation, apparently because of the bad blood with the Mayor.
