Detroit is bad news...I know first hand and this is not troubling at all but reality in Detroit. It's good to see law abiding gun owners making a difference and standing up for their neighborhoods when these punks attempt to rob them. There is a thread on the coach shooting also that someone posted. Good story as far as I'm concerned.

Not a story I'd spread around too much.

1) Teens = kids.

2) Death is too strong a punishment for attempted robbery

Between those 2 points, no liberal is going to agree that what happened is a good thing. If there were more details like what the teens were armed with and if they actually attacked that might be different but as it is that story too easily falls into moral gray areas.

I don't care if these robbers are teens or in their 50s.  If you're old enough to try and rob someone on the street, then you are old enough to understand the potential consequences of that illegal act.  Too many criminals are being released back onto the streets through a revolving-door justice system.  The consequences, especially for juveniles, are mere slaps on the wrist.  They know that, so the deterrent factor of getting arrested is nil.  It irritates me to no end when I hear on the news that a career criminal finally killed someone after being arrested 50-70 times!!   :wtf:

The cops can't be everywhere the crimes are being committed, and when the victims start applying for concealed carry permits  ... I say it's time the criminals reevaluate their options ... teens too!

"Death" for robbery is a harsh sentence, assuming the robber did not use force.  Maybe when YOU rob someone on the street, you say, "Please give me your wallet, sir."  I tend to believe most muggers use force to intimidate and paralyze their victims into submission.  If it's two on one, or a young, strong person versus a 60 year old, the victims are most likely in fear for their lives.  This isn't the movies or a police situation where measured response is expected.  Too often it's a survival situation.  Use of deadly force is appropriate if a reasonable person would have that same fear and response.

Here's a little example of what I think the majority of muggings might be like:

It's not much fun for the wolves when the sheep are packing heat!
When only cops have guns, it's called a "police state".
