Sent my email to the Mayor and the Parks Director to thank them.   

I too was skeptical even with all the previous posts from respected 2A members.  Seemed too good to be true.  But, now "I am a true believer."   

Just sent my thank you emails to the mayor and the new parks & recs director.  Wasn't too sure if Toni was male or female seeing how people name their kids.  But, found out that female she is, then the next dilemma was whether to address her as Ms. or Mrs. as I am pretty sure that she is married and again not sure if she would be offended by Ms. or Mrs.  Finally settled on "Aloha Parks Director Robinson."   Probably over analyzed it . . .

I am optimistic that this director will actually do something for KHSC like repair the roof that hasn't been there for over a year.

Maybe it will be like the good old days (two years ago) when I could go to the rifle range at 7:30, 30 mintures before they open, and had choke open benches.

The mayor was out there on Saturday with a news crew. I got to thank him and show some appreciation for his efforts. I commented that we need a place to continually enjoy our hobby in a safe and responsible manner.

Fancy that. He treats shooters like  regular citizens and members of the public.

I'll remember this when Kirk comes up for re-election in 2016 or if the gun haters go after him. 

KITV and HNN (ch. 7 and gave the story short shrift, but at least they sent a "shooter" -- newsroom parlance for a photographer. The Star-Advertiser didn't bother (after they reported the new hours in Kokua Line on Friday). You'd think Hawaii's only statewide daily paper would  show up when Honolulu's top elected official  goes to the range. But you would be wrong.

They updated the website last week with the caveat "Effective April 1, 2013", but they forgot to LEAVE the current schedule, too!   

So, they removed the new schedule and reposted the current one.  I guess they will swap them again on April 1st ... which is TODAY!!   

The range is closed Mon & Tue, so they have plenty of time to make the change (again).

You are new here so you might not be aware of how large the budget is for the area in which the KHSC sits, but it's only several hundred thousand short of a million dollars.  They don't bullet mine and they haven't done other improvements, so to me the C&C still has about $500,000 they can spend every year on the complex.

This press op for the mayor was a way of trying to show that he supports 2a rights without really saying so. He chose his words carefully by stating KHSC was one of the busiest parks on the island. He skirted around saying that he is outright progun. Whether he truely is or isn't, the change back to normal hours is of some consellation to our crowd. One extra hour still won't make a dent in people camping out for benches.
