A former postal worker with:

a fully automatic Colt AR-15 ...
19 unregistered firearms ...
30 registered firearms ...
23,000 rounds of ammo ...

and caught selling unregistered firearms.

I think the government might have been justified prosecuting this one .... perhaps!
When only cops have guns, it's called a "police state".

Soooo what if those 19 unregistered firearms were legally acquired before the state registration requirements went into effect, how could they prove that?

23k of ammo, what's wrong with that? Nowadays that's nothing more than a good investment.

Everything else it sounds like he's guilty of.

Well, if any one of those weapons was produced after 1994...

Which could be verified with a check of the serial, or in some case, just the model of the gun would seal it.

He wasn't prosecuted for the unregistered guns or for the ammo -- that wasn't my point at all.  He was caught having a firearm shipped to himself without going through a "person with a Kalepa Mea Kaua Firearms license".

Someone with that many guns should have known the firearms laws inside-out.  Add to that him receiving a full-auto AR-15!  Not much grey area there!
