Nice Bunker.  What grips?  I like.

I put some Herrett stocks on mine recently and not sure if I'll keep them on.

I had a Clark trigger job and Bo-Mar style rear sight installed.  It's a sweet shooting machine.

Wow VERY nice gun! I'm a big fan of .22LR as well.  Some people love it, some people hate it, but I really enjoy shooting my 22/45 with a red dot.  It will eat any ammo I throw at it, including that really dirty Winchester stuff from Sports Authority.

i'm a big fan of the 22.  everyone needs at least a couple of them.
these days, a 22 revolver is a very practical option.  ;)

A single shot .22lr handgun might be the best option in these hard-to-find ammo days.

Love my Ruger SR22. It's a modern looking gun and it fires just about any .22 ammo. The range officers always freak out when I let my son shoot it because they think its a center fire hand gun. Little they know my son shoots my glock .40 when their not looking.

S&W Model 41 if you can find one.

Walther PPK in 22LR (mine got stolen) (never get a TPH)

I dont really like modern 22LR pistols.  They dont make them like they use to.

I have a Walther P-38 with a 22LR conversion. This is my favorite.

I shot a Sig 226 with the 22 conversion.  It is good.  But the gun i used needed some trigger work.

I was looking into the 22 conversion for my p226. I'm finding out that about half of them are giving consistent FTF and FTE issues. Its a roll the dice kinda thing when you get it. I would expect more out of it because its a $280 conversion. BTW do you have any 22 conversions for the 226 in stock or available to order.

For the time being, a better question would be "does anyone know where I can find ANY 22lr ammo?"

I sent it to Clarks since I'm not very handy.  Plus, I wanted them to change out the sights.  I'm grew up in Louisiana so I'm partial to dealing with them.  Good guys to deal with.  Takes little while though.

Put the red dot on tonight...ready for the range this Sunday.  I hope it's not finicky.

Wow that is a nice gun.  If you don't mind me asking how much did you pick that up for?

Paid $600 for the Model 41....plus a day and a half of registration.

I don't think I will buy another gun until the lines at HPD calm down.

Wow you know I'd think honolulu would be better than big island but every time I needed to go to PD there's only around 10 people or so and firearms are only open 2 hrs a day

I bought the pistol new in 1985 and I believe off the top of my head they are Hogue grips. You may not see the same exact grips anymore but there are several available that come close to it.

Can't go wrong with a Ruger 22/45 or mark III.

I also didn't like the look of it at first but now it's a sweet looking pistol thats accurate.

Hey that sig, is it the one with the rosewood grips? I was looking at that over at kona guns. It is heavy for a 22 but i like it let me know how it shoots

Okay, here's my review of the Sig Sauer 1911-22, since a couple people here expressed an interest.

LOOK & FEEL
Very nice feel to it.  It's so close to the size and weight of a larger caliber 1911, many instructors use this (or the GSG-branded version), to teach students proper use and for practice.  I let my friend try it, and he preferred the feel over the Ruger Mark III he tried.  Well balanced, very smooth, and enough "pop" to enjoy the shooting!

OPERATION
The mags have a little catch that you can use to pull the follower down while reloading.  This really saves on your fingers, prevents decapitating poorly seated rounds, and you don't have to buy a speed loader for it.  The downside: only one mag came with the gun.  YG had extras ... $49.99 each (I did buy 2 more .. never wanna be without at least one in the grip plus a spare!).   This pistol is not overly hefty, yet it's substantial enough to develop good muscle memory for operating any 1911.

PERFORMANCE
Accuracy was so-so, depending on the ammo fired.  I had several 3 & 4 shot groups in the 3-inch range, while others seemed to be randomly good-good-flyer-flyer-good.  Could be just the shooter, but I think the ammo was a big factor.  The action was very, very smooth, and I only had 5 FTF ... all with the same non-HV ammo (see below).  All-in-all, a very fun shooter!

STAY TUNED LATER
I ordered some replacement parts for this gun last week after reading that some parts are a little loose in tolerance and can cause the barrel to droop in the front bushing.  There is a barrel adjustment screw to compensate, but after the new parts, that screw gets tossed!   It's the torque screw in the pic below ... right-most circle under "GERMANY".  I ordered the PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT SYSTEM (No, not the one from Smilin' Bob!!), from CW Accessories.  This replaces the bushing, spring plug, and recoil spring.  I'm also replacing the plastic guide rod with an all-stainless one.  Here are the links:

http://www.cwaccessories.com/Performance-Enhancement-System.html
http://www.cwaccessories.com/Other-Upgrades.html

Now that I've tried the stock pistol, I can see how much the new parts improve accuracy and consistency.  I'll let you know next weekend .... tracking says my order is already in Mililani after shipping out Thursday!   :geekdanc:

AMMUNITION
I tried 3 types of ammo:

CCI Blazer:  This had 5 FTF.  Ejected the fired cartridge okay, just didn't have enough umpf to completely send the slide to the rear and pick up the next round.  The slide locked open (empty chamber), so all I had to do was rack the slide, and it was ready to keep firing.  Accuracy was spotty, and I think these were the least consistent of the three types.

CCI Mini-Mag HV:  These operated flawlessly and had good accuracy and consistency.  Every once in a while, I would see a round hit 2-3 rings higher than the POA.  Still, not sure if I'm the cause, but it seemed to happen most often when I shot this ammo and the Blazer.

Winchester Super-X HV:  These cycled perfectly and had the best accuracy and consistency.  Good groups and had the most bull/red ring hits compared to the other ammo.

Hope that's helpful.  If you have specific questions, please feel free to ask!    :D

Here is what the manual and the engraving on the pistol have to say about ammunition to use.  I would follow their recommendations, based on my first experience:

When only cops have guns, it's called a "police state".
