What types of rifles range distances?
Distances – vary depending on the range you are at. CR-2 is good up to about 200 yards, I forget the distance you can take your targets out to. KR-3 is good to well over 1,000 meters, but you are restricted in how far out you can take targets/frames due to materials (think expended items) down range.
What are the range markers at for pistol shooting?
Range Markers – there are none. You place your own targets/frames as you desire. Club does provide, but you can bring your own.
Are there actions bays for rapid firing a handgun like 3 gun competition?
Action Bays – there are none in the sense of KHSC. The ranges are pretty large and even on CR-2 you are required to only occupy a certain part of it. 3-gun shoots……..no not in the sense of another club coming in. There had been a vote on allowing reciprocity with the CMP folks, but when you consider the different operating conditions it would be best to just join SRGC as it’s pretty cheap. Another issue is SRGC is a non-profit organization with it’s own insurance……..just a lot of issues that can come up. Now there is a Combat Shoot that is staged about once a month……..nothing too serious more a matter of giving the members an avenue to test gear and theory, it’s most definitely not a competition type atmosphere although you do run against the clock and others on occasion, but it’s more about being a stress applicator than a competition avenue.
Are you allowed to rapid file from pistol and rifle?
Rapid Fire – generally speaking yes, if it can be done in a safe and controlled manner. To me this means if you aren’t hitting what you are aiming at or within reason then no. So basically no bump firing, no slide fire stocks and no automatic fire.
If I'm a member can I bring family and or friends to shoot?
If you are a member you are allowed to sponsor a non-member one single time. After this they must apply and be accepted as members before they are allowed to shoot again. As the sponsor you are expected to maintain continuous oversight of them. This means you watch them shoot, you don't shoot at the same time they do as you are responsible for them and by extension making sure they are shooting safely. You can rotate out shooting, but again not at the same time as them.
What are the range dates and hours?
Range Dates/Times – are always on a Sunday as requested by the club so long as it does not interfere with the Army training. As a club member you will be notified when and what range(s) have been secured. Generally speaking only SR-5 (skeet) is unaffected by the Army. Hours are 1000 to 1400.
Targets – SRGC is in the stages of trying to get certain metallic targets OK’d by range control. Currently the club rules state that if you cannot shoot through the target then you cannot use it. The one exception to this is 22lr targets.
Calibers – All handgun and rifle up to .308, I forget if 30-06 was ok or not. Try shooting KR-3 with a .308........frikken hard. I am tapped out at about 900 yards.
