Nice where did u order them from?  How did u build the stand frame?

I've been weary about some of the surpluss ammo that some guys state that they have brought surpluss ammo and unknowingly it was AP ammo (armor pericing) which will kill a 1" plate

if youre worried you have pseudo AP ammo, just trade with me for surplus non-AP  ;D itd be nice to come across some of that to have on hand in case i need to disable an engine block after i run out of 1oz slugs

Made this last night for doing a barrel flush at the range.  Hose fits right into the chamber pour water into funnel with barrel hanging  over end of bench table.  Clean like normal after
Cost about $3 to make from city mill

Maybe a 1" mild steel. I'd imagine 1/2" ar500 would handle ap since it can handle bmg. 3/8" ar500 can handle .30 cal at 100.

I bought mine from eBay. Free shipping. I just used a standard wood frame. If you don't miss much the frame can last at least 4 or 5 trips before the shrapnel destroys it.

Were shooting for 10 am sunday the 21st.  Pm if you wanna come by ill give you my number.
I only have 1 rifle frame hopfully someone can bring another so we can shoot at 50 or 100.  Even better of we can get a stall inline with the steel targets.

What mount did I buy jaynick?  I'm looking at the brassstacker or the jmeck.  Only prob is I need a bent bolt if I choose to use a long rifle scope.  The best guy for the bolts "boltman" is backed up 3 months.

hmm 10am is a little early but ill try. i usually dont go til 1pm. please pm me your number please in case i can make it.

the mount is actually a UTG custom fit. i needed to saw off the metal end cap on the upper handguard and use a torch to knock off my old rear iron sight completely to expose the dovetail.
the brass stacker sits too high for me but at least u keep the iron sights. i think i contacted jmeck and they took forever to respond and wait time was long if i remember correctly. it couldve been another vender that makes a custom one with an awkward name but jmeck sounds familiar.

i wanted to get the scope mounted as low as possible to keep the axis close to the barrel, plus i can get a half decent cheekweld with my current setup. i didnt want to add on a slip on padded cheek riser which wouldve been required with the brass stacker.

i used to have a trs-25 mounted on a cheap $8 rail that replaced the upper half (the adjustable leaf) of the iron sight. it actually was rock solid for a $8 rail. i couldve mounted a scope directly onto that rail but it would sit higher than id want.

ebay vendor targetmanllc was recommended to me by multiple people on different forums.

he even sells 10x13 ar500 body armor plates that gets sprayed with a rhino liner/truck bed coating to greatly reduce ricochets and shrapnel. ive been wondering if its worth applying that yourself to minimize frame damage. might not be cost or time effective, who knows.

You can shoot holes through your frame regardless. A metal frame will last much longer though, the shrapnel from the disintegrating bullets wouldnt eat away at it. I believe mine came from targetman as well.

Count on me to be there, if the creek don't rise!

I just finished cleaning the metal parts of my 91/30, and they are marinating in Ballistol before I reassemble them.  I can wait to do a full-on cleaning of the stock after I decide on revarnishing or not.  A little cosmoline won't hurt as long as it's on the outside.

Thanks!!

I've been rethinking the scope mounting thing for me and it looks like if I can get a period correct scope mount,  install plus, bent bolt mod plus cost of the gun.  You are looking at a simlar price of a refurb sniper built to work as one for about $600 low as $500.
I may just buy the sniper and seel off a round reciver.

3/8" should be sufficient, but you can never be too careful.

Thanks to thoes who came out to shoot or stopped by...next time "don't be shy just say hi!"  Even if you don't have a mosin I'm always down to let you shoot off a few rounds.

Will keep this thread going.  Gonna setup another mosin get together in 2 months is Sat a better day than sunday?  Looking at the weekend of June 23rd.  Weekend after fathers day.

After 2 hours of cleaning up the guns for "long term storage" I can relax.  That surpluss ammo is nasty stuff very dirtty and is corosive.  Had the most fun with doing the boiling water barrel flush.

Gotta say the mosin nagant m44 is brutal to shoot.  Not only doest it kick hard like a mule, there is a big muzzle flash.  So my mission to make a truck gun 16" mosin ain't gonna happen.  Its just to much power to monkey around with.  The m91/30 is just a joy to shoot on the other hand.
