Seems like the first round may be nosing down instead of feeding correctly. Could be rimlock preventing it from loading properly, the rounds have to be loaded into the stripper correctly with the rims in the correct position. This can be tricky if you are loading the stripper clips by hand.

Here are some other forum threads you can read that may help if the stripper clip or rimlock is not the problem.

Tried following the advice in the vid and still no luck  :(

Was fooling around with it and it seems that it might be the interrupter. Whenever I use the stripper clip, it seems that the bolt just hits the rim of the cartridge and the round refuses to move forward. But when I load each round by hand, it works flawlessly.

Aside from that, I have no idea.  ???

I've read that this maybe a stripper clip issues.  The consensus came out that only the orginal russian surpluss clips work well not modern made ones.  Look for "izv" triangle marked clips

The clips actually came with rounds attached from  7.62x54R spam cans that I purchased. They 'sometimes' work fine in my Russians, but refuse to work in the Type 53.

Guess i'll have to stick with hand loading each round.

Of course, I could alway shell out the $350+ for the new stock + mags, but still debating on that one.

This may help.  When loading by hand , notice you more than likely start the round slightly forward of the previously loaded round.  That has the effect of keeping the last-loaded round's rim in front of the previous round's (front being toward the muzzle).  When you cycle the bolt, the top round will always start forward of the one beneath it.  Reversing the rim order causes the lower round's rim to block the round being fed into the chamber.

Now, look at how you load a clip.  The rounds need to be inserted into the clip rim over rim.  The rim on one end is under the next.  The rim on the other end is on top of the next.  The rims in between should follow the same pattern of under or over from either direction.  Once the clip is full, the rounds will "lean" one direction due to the rims on the adjacent rounds lifting up the edge of one other adjacent round.  Look for the round on the end that is on top of the net rim.  That round goes in last, and it should be pointing upward when the clip is in the loading slot on the rifle.  All rounds except the bottom one should lean upward when loading, as the rims should be from bottom up, rear-most rim to forward-most rim.

It took some observation to figure that out.  As you said, hand loading works.  Just make the clips do exactly the same thing in terms of rim order.

I RECEIVED MY FFL IN THE MAIL TODAY!  I'm officially registered with the BATF as a Federal Firearms Licensee for Curios and Relics!  For those curious and interested in applying, the cost was $30 to the ATF (I paid by Credit Card), with 2 copies of the application needing to be completed and mailed.  One goes to the ATF with the check/credit card info, and one to the local PD (so they can alert the ATF in the event they feel you should be denied for some reason).

- Monday, May 20:  mailed the applications
- Saturday, May 25:  credit card was charged $30 fee
- Saturday, June 15.  license arrived in the mail

License expires July 1, 2016 (3 years for those with public education  >:D )

Just a day shy of four weeks from start to finish.  Now I can start looking on Gun Broker, AIM Surplus, and Bud's Gun Shop again!!  I was having to hold myself back until my license arrived!  Now I can ship firearms that qualify to and from my house directly and avoid the LGS FFL fees!

AMAZING FEELING, Isn't it?!  :geekdanc:

Aside from AIM, check out Classic Firearms, Southern Ohio Guns and J&G; but I'm sure you already knew that, so just a refresher

P.S. Might want to get your Mosin's while you can; according the the importer I deal with, the next shipment's prices are going to rise dramatically, and increase with each shipment thereafter.

The Russians/Ukrainians have stopped sending the accessory kits as well; only the bayonets  :'(

Thanks for the tip!  Too bad my safe isn't  marked "Mosin Parking Only!"  My Mosins have to share space with other "tenants!" leaving little space for new acquisitions ...   :'(
