I've been using Mink Oil shoe polish with great success lately.  It is real slick stuff.  Just a dab on the fingers and wipe on the case.

I'm not a chemist, but I think any thick oil or grease suitable for high pressure applications would do the trick. The trick is to apply it in a very, very thin film.

In my case, I use Alox 2138F which has the consistency of Kiwi paste shoe polish.
But I dilute it with acetone on a cloth such that you can't see it and just barely feel a little "greasiness" on the shell.
The acetone evaporates in a few seconds and just leaves the thin film.

I've also used LPS-3 chain lube which is a thick brown spray oil. Still have to dilute it.

I've also used Mobil-1 motor oil. Diluted of course.

I used the Dillon case lube that came with my press.  It is simply lanolin with isopropol alcohol.

So I purchased a few bottles of pure lanolin and 91% isopropol, cannot find the 99% anymore.  Mix is around 30 to 1 so I figure my lanolin bottles will last me forever.

Spray the pad and roll the cases.

You have to wonder who thought of using wool fat for reloading ammo.

Lanolin and alcohol solution works great!  Put cases in a ziplock, a couple of squirts, shake, let dry and you are good to go.

Great question - short answer is yes.  But, never performed an empiracal test, with & without.

Ammo will probably still go bang, but will most likely affect your pursuit of the Holy Grail of bench rest shooters . . .

"It is frequently used in protective baby skin treatment and as a treatment for sore nipples in breastfeeding mothers."

No need lube with carbide dies, lube if regular steel dies.     adding lube for pistol case can add a lot of extra time to loading tons of pistol ammo
