Sale prices on guns and ammo
« on: April 30, 2013, 06:23:13 AM »
I've noticed that a lot of people are trying to dump the guns, ammo and magazines that they hoarded during the latest scare.

I've also noticed the inflated prices people are trying to sell them for.

Some of the people selling got gouged and now realize that they overpaid. They're trying to sell now to minimize their losses.

Others are still trying to gouge.

In the meantime most people are irritated with the high prices.

Based on forum rules however, you can not voice your opinion on someone's overpriced for sale ad, or risk getting banned.

Here's the solution.

Stop buying overpriced shit.

Don't even respond to their overpriced ads.  They can lower the price to a proper price or can suck on their overpriced stuff.

Responding negatively to their ads only starts fights. I should know, I start half of them.

The truth though is that you'll see people bumping their own for sale ads one trillion times till they realize that every single gun store in America is selling the same thing for less than their inflated price.

I know it's frustrating but some of us predicted this exact same thing would happen.

When people couldn't find a gun or magazine because people hoarded them, you swore that you'd never help them get out from under their hoard.

Bottom line, let their ad grow cobwebs till they get a clue.  :closed:

Yep, told all my friends this day would be here soon.

Now if we wait another couple months when even more starts showing up and people start getting more desperate because of their big CC bills prices are going to start hitting rock bottom.

Perfect time to buy. ;)

Here is the solution:  PM the guy your feelings and move on.  No like price, no buy.  No sense bustin his balls cuz he made a mistake.  Keep it private and respectful,   Two months ago if you wanted something you paid for it.  Period.  There were no deals.  If you made a mistake, all you can do is try to get back some of your $$.  If no one likes the price, no one will buy.  I don't see why people can't send the guy a PM instead of publicly chastizing him.
It is what it is.

I see kk point and i guess i too get emotional yelling at the computer saying your outtayour mind. But when you try to sell your stuff  on a forum full off people in the know its kind of embarrassing i think thats what kk is trying to point out. If im wrong about it well then thats how i feel then. You would be better off doing it to somebody like yourself who was happy when they overpaid and said i dont care iwant it but thats hard pressed here on a forum that um well tries to keep up , support , and defend the 2a or just plain loves those guns but oh well. Sorry  ill just PM myself to shutup

Blame Obama!

And evveryone who voted for him.

Pray that the ban never happens. Its not dead issue yet.  They can pull this crap every year. Vote more dems out in the senate.

Then we will have a lame duck president. Hopefully.

My following thoughts do not apply only to this forum, but looking through the classifieds here for the past few months was painful.  I actually only purchased one item.  Out of respect for myself I didn't even bother making offers on certain items.  Just waited to see if the seller would come down on their own.  Unfortunately there are too many ignorant consumers buying at the inflated prices.  Having said that, I am more irritated by those sellers or companies who purchased low or had products and intentionally attempted to gouge others during the recent months.  We can talk free and current market, supply and demand, blah, blah, blah, but you can put lipstick on a pig and you still have a pig.  The public was fast to vilify companies who did that, I see no difference if it was a company or an individual who attempted the same.  There is a difference in someone who reacted out of rash ignorance and got scalped and is now trying to re-coup and someone who purposely preyed on the situation.  One is ignorant the other is a colorful adjective omitted and are not the friend of the firearm culture or enthusiast.  I will not forget those users / companies and will not buy from them in the future.  Period.

I certainly do hope prices go back down though I do suspect it will be like gasoline prices.. they never just fall to what they were.

too bad there was not a forum which showed the msrp prices for guns so that people can see how much more expensive these used guns are going for.  Even if you have never shot the gun, its used and there is no way in hell I would ever end up paying full price for a used gun!  I mean why should I when I can pay full price for a brand new gun with a full warranty from the manufacture.  Who the hell knows what kinda reloads you have used in that brand new gun of yours...  the only gun I'd even consider paying anywhere near full price for is a Hi-Point (best warranty in the business, not the most accurate guns with a 3.5 inch barrel or the pretties but mines have always gone bang when you pull the trigger!).

Obama care, do I have to say anything else?  Everyone with a paying job is paying 2% more right now for it and in about 9 months you will be paying 4% more for it!!!  Not only are you also receiving less medical care, your also receiving worst medical care because MD's just don't give a shit any more as they aren't getting paid for their services.  Welcome to socialism!

isnt there a Blue book for guns?

If there is I have never seen it.  Everyone buying a gun should know just about how much they cost (we are all on the internet, how hard is it to punch in the model you are looking for and check out the prices?  There is more then just porn for your computer on the interwebs.).  A used stock worn glock should not cost 500-650 when you can buy a brand new one for less then that.  A 10/22 takedown should not cost 500 bucks when a brand new one cost 350.  A M&P 22 should not cost 500-550 when a brand new one down at ogc tatical cost $400.  An ar-15 shoudl not cost 2-3k for a stock one which cost 800-1000 brand new.  I don't get how some people figure thier guns are worth so much.  they much have gold inlay in them or something odd.  There is no gun ban or high cap mag ban yet people still think they can sell these used/worn guns for 2+ X the normal price of a brand new one!  It boggles the mind!!!

It's like people which sell their cars in hawaii for 2-3X the bluebook cost.  Why not just buy a car on the mainland for a resonable price, pay a grand, and ship it back here?  I laugh at them personnaly.  Can't find a gun locally?  Just buy it online and have it shipped to your FFL.

There is a blue book for guns.

The blue book is a general guide and not necessarily indicative of the actual value of the firearm.

I understand that prices fluctuate based on current market conditions.

The part that bothers me is when people complain when you offer them a fair price for something.

The funniest part is that I routinely offer what I believe a (gun, mags, ammo) is worth. Then all the whiners bitch and moan. However, the seller usually PM's me with a "ok, I'll take that price." I meet them and all the whiners are sitting there with their thumbs up their ass.

You can ask whatever the hell you want for your stuff. But when you're ridiculed, get a clue.

This is the world we live in nowadays and it's sad.

"Everybody is a winner" "Don't disparage my overpriced stuff"

We're so politically correct that no one can tell the truth without hurting anyone's feelings.

This is why we as a country allow terrorists to come to America and plan attacks on U.S. soil and everybody is afraid to say "kick all those bastards out of the country"
