Here is the solution:  PM the guy your feelings and move on.  No like price, no buy.  No sense bustin his balls cuz he made a mistake.  Keep it private and respectful,   Two months ago if you wanted something you paid for it.  Period.  There were no deals.  If you made a mistake, all you can do is try to get back some of your $$.  If no one likes the price, no one will buy.  I don't see why people can't send the guy a PM instead of publicly chastizing him.
My thought on this is that they deserve public admonition because they got suckered.  Now they're hoping they can find another sucker to take the loss for them.  If someone wanted to pay $30 a pop for beat-to-hell used USGI mags during Firearmageddon, more power to them, but I'm with KK on being annoyed that now those same people are doing their level best to keep prices overinflated by refusing to take a loss on their investment.  There were plenty of us saying "Yo, dawg, don't buy those overpriced mags.  Get on Midway's backorder list for P-Mags, or order some E-Landers from Mako Group and pay a reasonable price."  That's what I did; I got twelve brand-new standard capacity AR mags for the standard price, right in the middle of Firearmageddon.  Now, if I decide to sell some of my overstock, (lol, overstock?  I'll never sell any of them, and I'll probably buy more!  :D) I don't feel like I need to get 200% of the MSRP in order to break even--and most importantly, I won't be contributing to the extension of artificially inflated prices!

I have faith in the market, it will set the price according to curent market conditions.  Buy low and sell high is always the rule IF you are seeking a profit.  If you think the fall from buying into firearms, ammunition and the like when prices were high - its not bad as doing the same mistake in trading stocks. The only admonishment is in your accounts.  Day trading for example is a zero sum game. Equal amount of winners and losers. The next day is a whole new game, no time for tears, no time for high fives. Move on.
If you bought high then the loss is only realized when you sell low. The difference between what you paid and what the current market can offer is your sentiment to that product/service etc.

too bad there was not a forum which showed the msrp prices for guns so that people can see how much more expensive these used guns are going for.  Even if you have never shot the gun, its used and there is no way in hell I would ever end up paying full price for a used gun!  I mean why should I when I can pay full price for a brand new gun with a full warranty from the manufacture.  Who the hell knows what kinda reloads you have used in that brand new gun of yours...  the only gun I'd even consider paying anywhere near full price for is a Hi-Point (best warranty in the business, not the most accurate guns with a 3.5 inch barrel or the pretties but mines have always gone bang when you pull the trigger!).

Gunbroker is such a place.  It tells you what the actual market price is for things.........how much people are actually spending on things.

You guys sound like the Govt telling people what to charge and such.  I'm all for free market.  If someone is asking too much, let them accumulate cobwebs until they decide to ask a more reasonable price.  However, due to the stated rules of the classifieds, the proper method is to PM.  PM your offer, accepted or declined.  That simple.  Even KK said half the time they respond "OK" to his reasonable market value offers.  So really no need to whine about the whiners.  What really bothers me the most is that most of the guys that chime in with the rude remarks have no interest in the item anyway.  If you are interested, you have a legitimate gripe.  If not intersted, no grumble.  Forum rules.
It is what it is.

well said

I can't agree 100% with KK.  And I will admit I took advantage of the market.  I bought low and sold high.  Do you hate me?  I don't give a flying F.  You can kick rocks for all I care.  I've always said an item is only worth what someone is willing to pay.  In the end if the buyer and seller is happy I could care less what a 3rd party thinks of me.  My first priority is my family and as long as I am earning money legally I don't owe any forum or it's members anything.  However, I have always negotiated when someone asked to come down in price.  Most times I met in the middle and other times it was a deal breaker.  No hard feelings on either party.

Finally I didnt do nothing different than what Honolulu Ford would do with a Shelby Mustang.  I took MSRP on a hard to find item, added a little for profit, left enough wiggle room and made money.  Do you bitch and ridicule a dealership for doing that?  Sure you do but guess what that Shelby still got sold for an additional profit.

the exception here is that the opinions of the peanut gallery are against forum rules
and the first amendment doesn't apply in a private forum

that's silly.  In my opinion, the anonymity of the internet is what makes forums fun.  no pretenses, more truthful expression, and figuring out how to work with that.

as long as no one gets takes things to seriously, i think a little more openess makes this a better place.

you mean bear arms right?  I though everyone had a right to a pair of bear arms after they hunt it down and shoot one for themselves...

Well that's the thing, we all know the local shops are selling for an increased price and most of us can understand they have to increase it a bit to cover the cost of rent and employees.  I think most of us are laughing/pissed at the guys in the classified section selling used and worn guns for 50-100% more then the local shops are selling for new (which have the same guns in stock!)!
