Why aren't you riding yet?

Balance problems.  Need three points of support.  Left foot, right foot, cane.

However, as one rider on another board quipped,

You don't quit riding because you get old.
You get old because you quit riding.

Finally got me a Harley. It's a 02 Rustster, I mean 1200 Sportster. Had it for a little over a year.Also use to ride a 750 GSXR, and before that a 650 V-Star.
God, guns, and guts made America. Let's keep all three!

Started riding in 2001. My lists of bikes I have/had:

2001 Suzuki SV650S
2003 GSXR 600 (would have been turned into a race bike until the track closed down!  :grrr: )
2002 SV650 ( I love this little bike! Torquey and fun to ride! Still own it!)
2007 BMC Bobber (Still got it!)

1992 Honda CR250
1994 Yamaha YZ125
2001 Kawasaki KDX220 (fav dirt bike ever)
All sold!

And I do agree...Hawaii drivers (cagers) suck! Seems like there's not much aloha now days and a lot of drivers not paying attention!

I got an 08 Honda VFR 800 with ABS.  Only been riding for about 5 years.  It is pretty comfortable, but when the time comes to get a new bike, I want one with a more upright position.  I put Heli-Bars on and it did help, but it is still not upright enough.

This was my favorite toy, an aprilia mille RSV-R.  I got it basically new with about a thousand miles because the previous owner scared the crap out of himself and wanted out (yes he tipped it as you can see).  Did all the mods myself, first bike to have HID lighting, first aprilia to complete the IBA SS 1000, through the Mojave desert to Vegas 3x - all on a race rep!  I had it bad for riding and was lucky to have many bikes big and small.

Let's see some more bikes on this thread!   :shaka:

1999 Honda Rebel.  You'll know it's me when you see the HRA stickers on the left and right of a black helmet (both full helmet and half helmet) and an AR-15 on the back of the full helmet or an Oathkeeper rocker on the half helmet.  Got it in early March and have put about 3,000 miles on it.  I started out with a 50cc moped and decided I need something faster to get me out of trouble after a couple accidents, one requiring a trip to Queen's and a $1,500 hospital bill.  Got this current motorcycle and am ridding the piss out of it.  I hope to upgrade to a Victory High Ball when I find employment at the airport.

Those Honda rebel bikes are great.

They run forever.

Yup...although every vehicle I've significantly used ended up worthless (accidents or cost prohibitive mechanical failures), we'll see about this guy..

Gave up riding over ten years ago while still living in SoCal.  All my favorite canyon roads that were deserted "public" racetracks in the Malibu mountains had become infested with McMansions.  Suddenly 35mph speed limit signs popped up everywhere.  What was pristine open canyon racing territory became the turf for the rich.  The CHP was patrolling vigorously on their behalf.  Took the fun out of it.

Riding on the freeways for commuting and such was just too spooky.  What used to be a tolerable risk became intolerable as too many people and decaying driving skills became the norm.  Defensive riding too often required bursts of speed and lane changes, and the cops love keying on that, so you are damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Most of my friends and family thought I was insane to keep riding after breaking my back against an oak tree in 1980, but I loved it too much.  Age and the march of "progress" led me to sell my last bike, a 1988 Yamaha FZR-1000, to a buddy.  He ended up selling it within six months after scaring the hell out of himself.  I never thought it scary, but I had decades of road and track riding by then.

robtmc:  FZR-1000 ah yeah!  Knew a girl whose bf had one and they were a terror 2 up even.  I used to lust for an FZR-400 (more my size haha).  Eventually scored an NC-30 that one really hurt to sell :(

Got any old (notice I resisted saying vintage haha!) track pics?  Would love to see them!!!

i feel you on that. i didn't have an accident as bad as my back, but got my knees messed up a bit. i'd post the pics of my knees in the ER, but they're a bit bloody. my family all hate that i still ride. but then again, i ride like a pussy now.

been riding 7ish yrs, but i'm almost 9 mons pregnant so that shaves off some time. lol. it feels like ages since i rode for fun, and i miss it terribly. had a blonde moment when the other half asked which way the gears went, couldn't remember for the life of me.  ;D

he took the msf class recently too, so he has his license now.  :o  mainly uses the bike to commute, but he's such a conservative driver (compared to me) that i sometimes worry.

this is probably the most recent pic. did some powder/ceramic coating. (bike parts were the guinea pigs before all the car parts.)  steering dampener and levers, nothing major.

Quack!  Sweet bike mokeanne :)  Always preferred the race styled bikes because the riding position puts you leaned over, on your feet in the running position.  I already had a back injury too - so the legs take most of the shock vs. cruiser where you're on your ass and road vibes and bumps go straight up your spine.  No bueno for me unless it's a supermotard or something where you can stand up.

ps. street bike gears go the wrong way to begin with.  GP shift pattern mo betta'  ;D

Here's a first year CRF230 that I converted and plated for the street in Cali.  Painted it black then silver then blue and turned into a strange alien looking midi-tard not long after.  Shoulda' just left it alone LOL.

Aiea, what time will you be there?  I'd come by if anyone will be there at 5pm but I have to leave by 6pm to go to a 7pm graduation in town.
I think, therefore I am armed.
