Brady Campaign calls for no “open carry” at Nation’s in Pleasant Hill
NOVEMBER 12, 2010 9:30 AM · 13 COMMENTS
California Brady Campaign is calling on Nation’s Hamburgers to prevent the planned November 27th Open Carry meeting in Pleasant Hill.

The Brady Campaign issued the following statement….

The Contra Costa Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence has learned that the local Open Carry group will be bringing their guns to Nation’s Hamburgers restaurant in Pleasant Hill on Saturday, November 27th.

The Brady Campaign has contacted Nations Headquarters in Emeryville and asked that they issue a NO GUNS policy for their entire chain of California restaurants. The Brady Campaign took similar actions in the past to get the chains of Peets Tea & Coffee, California Pizza Kitchens, Buckhorn Grill and others who all have implemented NO GUNS policies for their stores.

The Contra Costa Brady Campaign is awaiting Nation’s response. If the meeting is held, Brady Campaign members say they will picket the location to inform and educate customers of the public safety risk to their families.

Event:

Saturday, November 27 · 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Location Nation's Giant Burger
1900 Contra Costa Blvd # A,
Pleasant Hill, CA

Participating individuals are asked to verify that all meetup locations are not within 1,000 feet of a K-12 school or otherwise in an area where open carry is unlawful.

There is a Starbucks right next door for those who wish to have coffee instead or in addition to.

Contact Nations and ask they do not cave:

I have heard that the Brady Campaign is protesting the Open Carry firearm meeting in your restaurant on Saturday, 27 November.

While, in the end, the decision is completely up to Nation's ownership, I would ask that they consider both sides of this situation and the "message" that a ban on firearms would send before making their final decision.

Unfortunately, the Brady campaign has been caught in lies and "untruths" on numerous occasions and for some reason is not willing to debate any gun control issues in a public setting. I kindly ask that the owners do their own research about the Brady campaign (a simple Google search is more than sufficient) as well as gun control myths (try GunFacts.info) before making the decision to act against our 2nd Amendment right to keep and BEAR arms.

THANK YOU for supporting our 2nd Amendment rights in the past! Please continue to do so and let the Open Carry meeting continue!

Sincerely,
Alex Europa

Dear Sirs,

I understand that the Brady Campaign has asked that you adopt a "no guns" policy in response to a planned "Open Carry" event on November 27 at your Pleasant Hill location.

I would humbly suggest that you consider the request from the Brady Campaign very carefully and in light of their ever decreasing membership, political influence and public funding.

On the other hand, legal gun owners and Second Amendment advocates are an ever increasing group, one that continues to grow its political and financial influence.

With the recent successes in the Supreme Court regarding gun rights, it is clear that as a group Second Amendment advocates are a formidible force whose influence extends beyond the court system and into the public arena.

I would encourage you to ignore the request from the Brady Campaign and opt instead to support the rights recently affirmed by the Supreme Court. Law abiding gun owners are not the problem and it would be a benefit to all involved to have you work with, and not against these dedicated and hardworking individuals.

Thank you.

Stomp a hole in the Brady Campaign and shut this companies e-mail server down.

You know, the company whose opinion we are hoping to influence just might consider an attack to shut down their mail server a hostile action.  That would almost certainly influence their decision.  What has Nation's Hamburgers done, aside from receiving a comment from the Brady Campaign, to merit such ire?

Tom,

I would wager a guess to say that he was speaking figuratively, like saying "Let's blow up their phones" (read: let's call them alot), or "Let's call them day and night" (read: call them alot, not literally 24/7). By the way, it would take WAAAAY more than the 187 member on this site to shut down their email server...a fact that Chris is well aware of.

Tom,
If we sent enough email, in support of us carrying firearms, to effectively caused a DDoS, would you think it's a smart business move to ban all these people from your store? I don't.. I think I would be like "Whoa! All these people like my hamburgers, why do I care about the Brady people."

Not to mention, you would have to send hundred's of thousands of e-mail to shut their server down. Don't take it so seriously ! Just send them e-mail and call them supporting either cause.
