Hey Stang,

From the pictures it appears the cut outs in the cylinder are pretty deep. It might just be the lighting. So I am curious if it is a 5 or 6 shot?

It's 6 shot.
That's probably the lighting making it look deep
I took the pic by my kitchen window around sunset and no flash.

I bought the brass and bullets almost a year ago . . . finally bought the gun. I can now start assembling the ammo.

.41 Magnum!!! WOW!!! The story behind the cartridge is fascinating, compared to how the other cartridges of that era came about. Nice piece.

Good way to commit to a gun in a certain caliber since your particular caliber choice in factory ammo is not readily available and when available is expensive - get the components first. That's a nice M57. Did you buy the brass and bullets locally or from the mainland? Thanks

The brass came directly from Starline and the bullets from Brownells. The brass and bullets were not always in stock at that time so when they became available I ordered them. I didn't think it was going to take this long to get the gun. Now I have to find time to roll some ammo and shoot the thing.

dialed down the charge a little more for this Ruger Vaquero 44 magnum with birds head grip and 3.75" barrel
now it feels perfect.  at least that what my hand-chrono tells me.
I brought some 44special and my reloads are still notably stronger than the special, but not as strong as factory 44mag loads
now I think this load is perfect for this gun  :geekdanc:

Top one is a limited edition Ruger Blackhawk Bisley in 45 colt (unfired) with scroll work on the cylinder.
Bottom is a Ruger SP101in 357 mag with a Hogue laminate grip.

I think you need to be more specific than "Top" and "Bottom!"

Get rid of FireFox. FireFox forced out it's CEO because he made a $1k donation to a charitable entity that supports heterosexual marriage. The LBGT community got word of his donation and pushed so hard FireFox forced the CEO out. There has been a boycott on FireFox ever since.

Just saying...

For web developing and troubleshooting, FireFox is the only real choice.  When the other browsers have the same capabilities as FF, I'll look into it.

my Ruger Security Six .357 magnum
this one was made in 1979
I picked it up a few years ago from LGS used.  had some surface rust on sides of trigger and hammer.  I let it sit at the LGS for months until the price went down. then I took a closer look at it
didn't seem like it had been shot much.  didn't show too much wear and tear, only the rust areas.  I figured it was just neglected for years and developed some surface rust
picked it up at a fair price for this gun.  took it home and did a polish job with my dremel with a light polishing compound, and presto.....rust was gone!
now my purchase looked a whole lot better once the rust disappeared
this gun serves as my HD gun in the rapid deployment handgun safe where it can be accessed quickly (pics are with some practice ammo, not defense ammo that would be used for HD)
one of my favorite all time Rugers.

That's an interesting perspective of the gun.  Being able to see the tips of the bullets, which I assume would be JHP ammo that a home invader would see.

That's is a very nice gun for sure!

I just so happened to take this pic a couple days ago after reloading those lead round nose ammo, but my defense ammo for this revolver is the old reliable 38sp+p LSWCHP.
it just looked better for the pic with the 357 ammo since it sticks out a little further than the 38sp, easier to see in the pic
