got the grips from Altamont.  they are my go to company for revolver grips. wood is great, fitment is perfect, just really well made.  there is usually a wait but its worth the wait
silver black laminate with finger grooves and checkering with the colt medallion. website said lead time was 2-4 weeks, got to me in about 3 weeks
fitment is perfect as always with their grips
the factory ones feel like its slightly bigger circumference. like a coke bottle target grip. and the silver black ones feel slightly slimmer, although I didn't measure
i like the feel of the new grips a little better, but i like the looks of the wood on the factory grips too. nice to have options.

short review of GP100 vs 586 vs Python
each one is a very good 357, Python being the most expensive.  Ruger and S&W about the same price maybe the Smith slightly more expensive but not much
out of the box I would say the Smith's trigger feels the best.  the Ruger has that definite feel when it changes from the DA to SA pull, when the cylinder stops and then goes into SA mode so to speak.  some people don't like that, but I've grown to accommodate for it.
the Python's action is the best.  when I pull back the hammer, the action is very smooth.
Ruger feels the most mechanical.  I've put a lot of rounds through this gun and did a trigger spring swap so its not as heavy as factory.  I'm most comfortable shooting this gun, so the review is probably somewhat bias toward the GP100
I like the looks of the Python and the 586 about the same.  I like the blueing and the grips on the 586, and Python is a Python.  :D  the GP100 is more like a tank, not the best looking of the bunch but I like it
overall each gun has its good points.  whatever you feel the most comfortable shooting is what you will like the best.  if you upgrade from factory, it'll only be better
so who's the winner?  me, bc I get to shoot them all.   :geekdanc:

friend of mine and myself had a friendly discussion on 10mm vs 44mag for bear or dangerous animal defense
he's a semiauto guy so he likes the 10mm.  i'm a revolver guy so 44mag would be my choice, although I am not a hunter
I believe the 44mag is far superior in firepower if loaded with hot/heavy ammo, and fairly superior with the regular 240grain ammo.
10mm has the advantage of greater capacity, and maybe less recoil and muzzle flip so follow up shots probably better with the 10mm
I've never shot a 10mm but would like to try it

With the 10mm, you get more chances before you have to save the last round for your self    :D :shaka:
